Junior AI Engineer
RemotechoiceJob Description
We’re looking for a Junior AI Engineer to join our team and help us develop practical AI, automation, and data solutions that improve the way we work and the services we deliver to our clients.
You’ll work across AI, Microsoft Power Platform, automation, APIs, data and business systems, supporting the development of internal tools, integrations, dashboards and automated workflows.
This is a junior role, so we don’t expect you to have experience with every technology or platform we use. We’re looking for someone with strong technical fundamentals, an analytical mindset, and a genuine interest in using AI and automation to solve real business problems.
You’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills while working on real-world projects across our internal systems and client environments.
Key Responsibilities
Help develop and extend PIA, our internal AI automation tool, to improve service desk efficiency and reduce manual processes.
Build, test and maintain automation scripts across our RMM and PSA platforms, including N-able, ConnectWise and Halo.
Support the investigation, development and maintenance of APIs and integrations between internal and client-facing systems.
Work with data from multiple platforms, helping to clean, reconcile and analyse data to ensure it is accurate and consistent.
Build and maintain dashboards and reports covering service delivery, client health and financial performance.
Work with colleagues to identify opportunities where AI and automation could improve processes, both internally and for our clients.
Use AI tools and platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude and Microsoft Foundry to help design and build business-focused solutions.
Support the delivery of AI projects through a structured process, from the initial brief and requirements gathering through development, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and completion.
Create and maintain clear documentation for all AI and automation implementations, ensuring documentation remains current as solutions evolve.
Help track, measure and report the commercial and operational impact of automations and AI solutions once they have been implemented.
Test solutions, investigate issues and troubleshoot problems, escalating where appropriate.
Continue developing your knowledge of AI, automation, Microsoft technologies and the systems used across the business.
About You
You may be a recent graduate or an early-career professional with a background in computer science, data, AI, software development, business systems or a related area. We’re also open to candidates who have developed equivalent skills through practical or project-based experience.
You don’t need to know everything on day one. What’s important is that you have good technical foundations, enjoy solving problems, and are motivated to develop your skills.
We’re looking for someone with:
A graduate or junior-level background in computer science, data, AI, business systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Power Apps.
Working knowledge of Python and/or PowerShell.
Some hands-on experience with data analysis.
Some hands-on experience using Power BI to create dashboards, reports or analyse data.
A genuine interest in AI and automation, particularly using technology to solve practical operational and business problems.
Confidence reading API documentation and an interest in testing and building integrations.
Strong documentation habits and good attention to detail.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with non-technical colleagues.
The confidence to investigate problems independently while recognising when to ask for support or escalate an issue.
A willingness to learn new platforms, tools and technologies as the role develops.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience in all of these areas is not required. Exposure to any of the following would be an advantage:
Experience or exposure to N-able, ConnectWise or Halo.
Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Azure, Power BI, Microsoft Graph and Power Apps.
Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio and Microsoft Foundry.
An understanding of REST APIs, JSON and systems integration.
Awareness of data security, data sensitivity and responsible handling of business and client information.
Experience building an AI-assisted dashboard, application, workflow or automation, whether commercially, academically or as a personal project.
Experience within an MSP or B2B IT services environment.
What We’re Looking For
We’re particularly interested in people who enjoy building things, experimenting with technology and finding better ways of doing things.
You might have built a Power App, created a Power BI dashboard, automated a repetitive task with Power Automate, Python or PowerShell, connected two systems using an API, or experimented with AI tools to solve a practical problem.
We don't expect a Junior AI Engineer to arrive knowing all of our platforms. We'll support you in developing that knowledge. What matters is your ability to learn, solve problems and turn technology into practical solutions that deliver measurable value.
This is an opportunity to build experience across AI, automation, Power Platform, APIs, data, reporting and business systems, with increasing responsibility as your technical skills and knowledge develop.
