We are adding a Junior BI Analyst to our team to help with a large project for a Berlin-based logistics firm. This client manages thousands of shipments every day, and right now, their data is scattered across different software tools and manual spreadsheets. You will help us pull all that information into a single, reliable system so the client can see exactly where their trucks and cargo are at any given moment. This is a practical role focused on cleaning up messy data and making it useful for people running a real business.
About Pixel Systems
Pixel Systems is a small software agency that builds the tools teams actually use. We do not build flashy consumer apps or experimental social media sites. Instead, we focus on the practical systems that keep a business running: custom admin panels, CRM integrations, and the database migrations that most people try to avoid. Our clients come to us when they need to replace a sprawling spreadsheet with a real database or get their different software tools to finally talk to one another.
We believe that working code is better than a perfect plan that never ships. Our approach is straightforward. We provide fixed quotes before we start, we do weekly demos, and we hand over everything when we are finished. We use reliable, well-tested technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because we want the software we build to be stable and easy to maintain. We are a senior team of developers and designers who prefer solving real operational headaches over chasing the latest trends. We are a fully remote team and have been since we started.
The Role
In this role, your main task is to turn raw data into clear reports. For the Berlin-based logistics firm, this means working with our developers to extract data from various APIs and legacy databases. You will spend a lot of time cleaning this information, ensuring that shipment dates, fuel costs, and warehouse capacities are accurate and formatted correctly. Once the data is clean, you will build dashboards that help the client understand their efficiency and where they might be losing money.
The day-to-day work involves:
- Writing basic SQL queries to pull information from our Postgres databases.
- Identifying errors or inconsistencies in data sets and working to fix them at the source.
- Building and maintaining dashboards that track specific business goals for the client.
- Documenting how data is mapped between different systems so the client understands their reports.
- Participating in weekly remote demos to show the client the progress we have made on their reporting tools.
- Communicating with our backend developers to make sure the data pipelines are delivering the right information.
What you bring
We are looking for someone who is organized and enjoys the process of making things orderly. You do not need a long list of previous jobs, but you should have a solid understanding of how data works and be comfortable working with numbers. This is a permanent, full-time position that is paid, and the pay is competitive for the current market and entry-level seniority.
We need you to have:
- A basic understanding of SQL and the ability to write simple queries to filter and sort data.
- Strong attention to detail (you are the type of person who notices when a number in a spreadsheet does not add up).
- The ability to write clearly and explain technical findings to people who are not technical.
- A preference for logical, practical work over flashy or abstract concepts.
- Reliable communication skills for a remote work setting.
- Curiosity about how a logistics business operates behind the scenes.
Helpful background
While not strictly required, it is helpful if you have some familiarity with the tools we use every day. If you have used data visualization software like Metabase, Tableau, or PowerBI in your studies or personal projects, that will give you a head start. Basic knowledge of how APIs work or how a website interacts with a database is also a plus. Since we manage our projects through GitHub, having a general idea of how version control works will help you collaborate with our developers more effectively. If you have ever worked with Postgres or other relational databases, let us know.
Working at Pixel Systems
Working here is different from working at a large corporation. We have no middle management and very few meetings. We focus on shipping work that solves a problem for a client, like the logistics firm in Berlin, and then we move on to the next task. This role is 100 percent remote, so you will have the flexibility to work from wherever you are most productive. We value technical stability and honest communication. We do not expect you to know everything on day one, but we do expect you to be willing to learn the systems we use and to take ownership of the tasks you are given.
Our team is small and we prefer it that way. We treat each other with respect and we value a quiet environment where people can focus on doing good work without constant interruptions. When you build something here, you will see it being used by warehouse managers and operations teams to do their jobs more effectively. We enjoy the satisfaction of fixing a difficult problem and delivering a tool that actually works.
