Reports to: Head of Legal & Compliance

The role

Blue Earth Capital is creating a Junior Compliance Officer position based in Madrid to strengthen the Legal & Compliance team's global compliance capacity. Reporting to the Head of Legal & Compliance, the initial priority is managing the day-to-day AML/KYC/KYA processes across the firm's funds and entities. The role also supports the issuance and supervision of compliance policies and manuals and the development and operation of a firm-wide compliance monitoring program, under senior guidance. The role prepares reviews, documents findings and escalates exceptions; final approvals remain with the designated senior approver. This is a hands-on role for a candidate building a career in compliance within the impact and private markets industry.

Key responsibilities

  • Global AML/KYC management: Manage AML/KYC/KYA due diligence for the firm's funds and entities, including onboarding, periodic and event-driven reviews. Collect and review documentation, identify gaps or risk indicators, document findings and escalate exceptions in line with internal procedures. Coordinate with our global investment teams and external counterparties to keep documentation complete and current.

  • Transaction & fund support: Assist investment teams with KYC/AML documentation and process requirements during deal execution, closings, and ongoing fund/entity maintenance.

  • Directives & manuals: Help draft, review and update the firm's compliance directives, policies and manuals under senior guidance, incorporating agreed regulatory and internal requirements; maintain version control and the policy library.

  • Compliance monitoring program: Support the development and roll-out of a firm-wide compliance monitoring program under senior guidance. Perform checks against approved test plans, retain supporting evidence, track findings and follow up on remediation actions.

  • Regulatory change tracking: Track relevant AML/KYC and compliance developments in jurisdictions prioritised by the team, prepare summaries for senior review and support agreed updates to policies, controls and monitoring activities.

  • Compliance reporting: Prepare and consolidate compliance KPIs and monitoring results for senior review ahead of management and board reporting, and support related internal review meetings.

  • Training support: Support the maintenance of compliance training materials and records, including AML/KYC training for employees.

  • Marketing materials review: Perform initial compliance checks of marketing materials (e.g. LinkedIn posts, presentations, press releases) against internal guidance, flag potential issues and coordinate senior review and final approval.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Compliance, Business, Finance, Law, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2–3 years of relevant experience in compliance, AML/KYC or a regulatory environment within financial services, or equivalent experience gained through other paths, including hands-on AML/KYC due diligence. Asset management or private markets experience is desirable.

  • Practical knowledge of AML/KYC due diligence, with the ability to identify documentation gaps, record findings and recognise when to escalate. Familiarity with FATF-aligned frameworks is an advantage.

  • Exposure to compliance monitoring programs, policy/procedure documentation, or regulatory change management is an advantage.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Spanish and additional languages such as French or German are an advantage.

  • Detail-oriented and process-driven, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, global environment.

  • Proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with compliance, KYC, or contract-management systems is a plus.
