Turn complex energy questions into clear, data-driven decisions
Are you analytical, curious and motivated by solving challenging problems? Join Axpo Polska as a Junior Data Scientist and help turn commercial and trading questions from the Polish energy and gas business into robust analyses, models and data products.
You’ll work with colleagues across the business to strengthen decision-making through high-quality data science. You bring critical thinking, a constructive, questioning mindset and the determination to work through complex issues—not just produce numbers, but understand what they mean and communicate the insight clearly.
What you’ll do
Develop, maintain and improve predictive machine-learning models, including time-series, regression and classification models.
Translate commercial and trading questions into analyses, models and practical data products.
Work with large-scale data and use tools such as SQL, Python, GCP and Snowflake to deliver reliable analytical solutions.
Explore and visualise results, including with Power BI, and explain findings to technical and business stakeholders.
Check data quality, validate analytical outputs and critically review code and model results.
Document your work clearly so that analyses and models can be understood, maintained and handed over effectively.
Contribute to improving processes, performance and efficiency across the business.
What you’ll bring
A bachelor’s degree in data science, mathematics, IT, economics, finance, energy or a related field.
At least one year of experience in data science or a similar analytical role.
Strong SQL skills, including practical knowledge of query optimisation.
Practical Python skills and a sound understanding of data science and machine-learning concepts, such as model evaluation, clustering and common model types.
An analytical approach, strong critical-thinking skills and confidence working through complex, ambiguous problems.
A challenging mindset: you question assumptions, investigate root causes and look for better ways to solve problems.
A proactive, self-sufficient and entrepreneurial approach, with a can-do attitude and the ability to work well with multiple stakeholders.
Good spoken and written English. Polish is relevant for the local business context; knowledge of the Polish energy and gas industry is an advantage.
What we offer
Full-time employment contract.
Development in an international company that is shaping the face of the energy market.
A progressive medical care package that takes care of your health and well-being.
Co-financing of the Multisport card, enabling the use of various forms of physical activity.
Foreign language classes during working hours.
Flexible working hours and the possibility to work in hybrid mode.
An office with a beautiful view, located in the city center.
A motivated team, ready to guide you through your daily challenges.
Details about the salary range for this position and other components of the compensation package will be provided in the following stages of the recruitment process.
Ready to put your analytical mindset to work on complex energy challenges? We look forward to hearing from you.
