About the role
Are you passionate about finance, data analysis and improving processes? Join our Controlling team in Porto and help us turn financial data into meaningful business insights.
As a Junior Finance Controller, you'll play an important role in our monthly closing activities, working closely with stakeholders across B2B, B2C and wholesale (MVNO/FVNO) in a dynamic telecommunications environment.
Beyond the day-to-day financial controlling tasks, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to processing automation, develop reporting tools and improve the way we analyze business performance. As you grow into the role, you'll gradually take on more responsibility and become a trusted partner to the business.
If you have a strong foundation in accounting, enjoy working with data and are curious about tools such as Power BI and KNIME, we'd love to hear from you.
Please note: This position is based in Porto, Portugal, and we can only consider candidates who are already residing in Portugal. Candidates who are not EU/EEA citizens must be legally eligible to work full-time in Portugal and have a valid NISS and NIF.
What you'll do
Financial controlling and monthly closing
You'll start by supporting key activities in our monthly financial closing process, including:
- Prepare and book monthly accruals, including interconnect and other revenue accruals, and perform consistency checks on financial figures.
- Update and distribute monthly closing reports and executive summaries covering net recurring charges, interconnect, options, upselling and out-of-bundle services.
- Review and consolidate partner invoices, ensuring accurate and up-to-date international and roaming rates.
- Maintain B2B financial packages and support the analysis of sales operations, promotions and business cases.
- Prepare monthly closing files and accruals for MVNO/FVNO activities.
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support business decisions.
Business performance and financial analysis
As you become more familiar with our business, you'll take on greater ownership of financial analysis and reporting:
- Prepare monthly performance commentary and contribute to closing reviews for B2B and MVNO/FVNO.
- Validate partner commission schemes and reconcile commissions paid.
- Identify unprofitable customers and coordinate follow-up actions with the relevant teams.
- Build and maintain relationships with business stakeholders, providing financial insights to support decision-making.
- Contribute to budgeting and forecasting for selected P&L areas.
Reporting, automation and continuous improvement
You'll also help us modernize our controlling processes and make better use of data:
- Develop profitability KPIs, including sales efficiency and partner profitability metrics.
- Improve existing reporting processes and identify opportunities for automation.
- Maintain and develop KNIME workflows to streamline recurring tasks and reduce manual work.
- Support the migration and development of reports in Power BI.
What we're looking for
Essential requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
- 2–3 years of experience in financial controlling, accounting, financial analysis or a closely related role, ideally in a medium-sized or large organisation handling significant volumes of data.
- Solid accounting knowledge, including accruals, reversals, invoicing, cash management and analytical allocations, as well as a good understanding of financial KPIs.
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, charts and conditional formatting, with an interest in developing further skills in Power Query, Power Pivot and advanced formulas.
- English proficiency at C1 level or above, with the ability to communicate confidently in a professional environment, both verbally and in writing.
- A structured and analytical mindset, with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- A willingness to learn, improve existing processes and work collaboratively with different teams.
Nice to have
- Experience with data management, process automation or data visualization, including data flows, data models, tables, relationships and dimensions.
- Familiarity with SAP or another ERP system.
- Basic SQL knowledge, including joins, GROUP BY and WHERE clauses.
- Exposure to Power BI, particularly data modelling, visualizations, slicers and basic DAX.
- Experience with KNIME or other workflow automation tools.
You don't need to master every tool from day one. We're looking for someone with a solid financial foundation, strong analytical skills and the motivation to develop further.
What we offer
- Meal allowance.
- Transportation allowance.
- Health insurance after six months of employment.
- Hybrid working arrangements after the trial period.
- Opportunities for professional growth and development, with increasing responsibility over time.
- The opportunity to develop your technical skills in financial reporting, data analysis and process automation.
- A collaborative and motivated team in a dynamic telecommunications environment.
If you're looking for a role where you can combine finance, data and continuous improvement while developing your career in controlling, we'd be happy to hear from you.
