As a Junior Merchandiser at ZSL, you’ll play a key role in helping optimise product availability, stock levels and sales performance.
Working closely with the Buying team, you will analyse sales and stock data, identify trends and opportunities, and help shape stock plans in response to customer demand. You’ll support promotions and key trading events, monitor stock performance and flag risks, using insight and analysis to inform decisions and improve product availability.
You will work collaboratively with teams across ZSL, sharing insights and helping to deliver a great customer experience. This is a great opportunity for someone who is analytical, commercially minded and organised, and looking to develop their career in Buying and Merchandising.
This is a 1-year fixed-term contract, working 37.5 hours per week. The role is hybrid, with a minimum requirement of 2 days per week on site at our Head Office at London Zoo. Attendance may increase at certain times to support business needs, meetings, projects and key trading activities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Commercial Performance: Analyse sales, stock and market trends to identify opportunities and risks, supporting the delivery of sales, profit, availability and inventory targets.
- Forecasting & Stock: Manage forecasting, replenishment and day-to-day trading across your product categories, ensuring the right stock is available at the right time while minimising excess inventory.
- Supplier & Buying Relationships: Work closely with suppliers and Buying partners to manage intake and delivery plans, respond to trading performance and maximise sales opportunities.
- Retail & E-Commerce : Partner with Retail and e-Commerce teams to improve product availability and performance, supporting seasonal launches, promotions and key trading events.
- Insights & Improvement: Present trading updates and recommendations to key stakeholders, build strong cross-functional relationships and identify opportunities to improve processes and team efficiency.
- Experience in merchandising, ideally at Junior Merchandiser or Senior Assistant Merchandiser level.
- Strong commercial and analytical skills, with confidence working with sales, stock and market data.
- Good knowledge of forecasting, range planning, budgeting and stock management.
- Highly organised and detail-focused, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- A confident communicator who enjoys working collaboratively with suppliers and internal teams.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Teams.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, staying calm under pressure and adapting to changing priorities.
- Willingness to travel to Whipsnade Zoo, suppliers, trade shows and other business-related events when required.
