Junior Planner - HVDC Cable Project
Location:
- Preferred in Glasgow.
- Hybrid working can be discussed, with occasional UK project travel.
Overview
SUMITOMO ELECTRIC U.K. POWER CABLES LTD. (SEUK) is looking to strengthen its EPC project delivery capability in the UK and Europe.
SEUK is seeking a Junior Planner to support the implementation and delivery of the Sea Link HVDC Interconnector project, supporting the
development and management of the project’s integrated schedule.
Reporting to the Planning Lead, the Junior Planner will assist in the update and delivery of the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), supporting
alignment across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, offshore installation, construction and commissioning activities.
The role will support effective project implementation by providing clear schedule visibility, identifying potential delays and coordinating mitigation
strategies across the project organisation.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Lead Planner, project leadership team, subcontractors and client programme controls teams
to support schedule integrity and accurate project forecasting.
Key Accountabilities
- Update and maintain the project Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) using Primavera P6.
- Support integration of schedules across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, offshore installation, construction and commissioning activities.
- Maintain schedule updates aligned with contractual milestones and project delivery requirements.
- Coordinate schedule inputs from internal teams and major subcontractors and support their integration into the project master schedule.
- Support schedule integrity and consistent planning assumptions across project workstreams.
- Support project implementation through planning, scheduling and progress monitoring.
- Identify schedule conflicts, bottlenecks and delays and support the development of mitigation or recovery plans.
- Provide schedule insights to support project leadership decision-making.
- Assist with updating resource and cost loading of schedules.
- Monitor progress against the baseline schedule and identify potential impacts on the critical path.
- Support schedule forecasting, variance analysis and timely project reporting.
- Support schedule risk identification, mitigation planning and schedule impact analysis relating to scope changes, variations or design development.
- Work closely with engineering, procurement, construction and commercial teams to ensure schedule alignment.
- Support programme interfaces with major subcontractors, suppliers and installation contractors.
- Work closely with the Lead Planner and wider Project Controls team, including cost control, risk management, change management and document control.
- Support the development of project performance indicators and reporting dashboards.
Essential / Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Experiences
- 1-3 years of experience in project planning or project controls within large-scale infrastructure, energy or EPC projects.
- Awareness of the development and management of integrated project schedules using Primavera P6.
- Awareness of coordinating schedules across multiple subcontractors and delivery partners.
- Experience or exposure to sectors such as subsea cable, offshore energy, oil & gas, power transmission or major infrastructure
projects would be advantageous. - Awareness of critical path analysis, schedule forecasting and schedule impact assessments.
- Awareness of construction contracts such as NEC and FIDIC would be advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
