Junior Prompt Engineer

Pixel Systems
Posted 1 hour ago
🇩🇪Germany🏠Remote📁Engineering & Development
Is this job info correct?
We are expanding our team to support a long term project for a Munich-based industrial client. This company has vast amounts of technical documentation and machinery logs that they need to make accessible to their maintenance teams. Your job as a Junior Prompt Engineer will be to help us build the interface between their raw data and the large language models we use to process it. You will be helping us turn complex, natural language questions into structured, accurate answers that warehouse managers and technicians can rely on to do their jobs.

About Pixel Systems
Pixel Systems is a small software agency that operates entirely remotely. We do not build flashy consumer apps or marketing sites that disappear after a month. Instead, we focus on the practical tools that keep businesses running: admin panels, CRM integrations, and database migrations. Our clients come to us when their spreadsheets have become too large to manage or when they need their different software tools to finally communicate with each other.
We believe that working code is better than a perfect plan that never ships. Our approach is straightforward. We provide fixed quotes, we perform weekly demos, and we hand over everything when we are finished, including the code, the documentation, and walkthrough videos. We use reliable technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because we want the software we build to be stable and easy to maintain over the long haul. We are a team of professionals who prefer solving real operational headaches over chasing the latest trends.

The Role
In this role, you will be focused on the logic and language used to interact with AI models. This is not about creative writing or generating marketing copy. It is about engineering specific, repeatable instructions that result in reliable data for our industrial client. You will spend a lot of your time testing different versions of prompts to see which ones produce the most accurate results from technical manuals and sensor logs.
Since this is a fully remote position, you will be responsible for managing your own schedule and keeping your documentation clear. You will work closely with our developers to ensure that the prompts you create are successfully integrated into the applications we are building. You will also help us monitor the outputs of these models to catch errors or hallucinations before they reach the end user. This position is a full-time, paid role, and we offer a salary that is competitive for the entry-level market.

What You Bring
We are looking for someone who is organized and curious about how language models interpret instructions. You do not need years of professional experience, but you do need to be a clear and concise writer. You should have a logical approach to problem solving and the patience to run multiple tests to find the best solution. We value people who are comfortable admitting when something is not working and are willing to try a different angle.
  • A strong grasp of English grammar and the ability to explain complex ideas simply.
  • Basic understanding of how large language models (like GPT or Claude) function.
  • The ability to follow technical documentation and machinery specs without getting overwhelmed.
  • A high level of organization and the ability to keep track of different prompt versions.
  • Comfort working in a fully remote environment where clear written communication is essential.
  • A practical mindset: you care more about the tool working correctly than it being fancy.
  • Willingness to learn the basics of how our software stack interacts with these models.

Helpful Background
While this is an entry-level role, there are a few things that might help you get up to speed faster. If you have used GitHub to manage files or have a basic understanding of how APIs work, that is a plus. Familiarity with JavaScript or Python can be helpful for understanding how your prompts will be used in the final code, though you will not be expected to write complex applications yourself. Any experience you have with technical writing or data entry will also be very useful here.

Working at Pixel Systems
Working here is different from a typical corporate environment. We have a flat structure with no layers of middle management. You will work directly with the people building the software and the clients using it. We focus on shipping work that helps real people, like the maintenance crews for our industrial client in Munich, solve their daily problems. Our remote culture is built on trust: we do not track your hours, but we do expect you to show up for your teammates and get your work done.
We are a small team that values a quiet, focused work environment. We avoid unnecessary meetings and prefer to communicate through clear documentation and short, direct updates. If you prefer a workplace where you can focus on solving puzzles and building useful tools without the drama of a large corporation, you will fit in well here. We are looking for someone who wants to learn the ropes of prompt engineering while contributing to a project that has a tangible impact on industrial operations.
