Junior Research Analyst

Olive Tree Consulting Group

Is this job info correct?
We are adding a Junior Research Analyst to our team to support a large scale engagement with a major financial services provider. This role is essential for keeping our advisory work grounded in facts and clear records. As a fully remote position, you will work alongside our consultants to help translate complex management discussions into simple, actionable information that a leadership team can use every day.

About the role
The Junior Research Analyst exists to help our advisory practice stay organized and focused. In many large organizations, information gets lost in long email chains or forgotten after a meeting ends. You will help prevent this by acting as the project memory. Your work ensures that when we give advice to a client, it is based on a solid understanding of how their teams actually operate.
This is an entry level role where you will learn to look at the structural habits of a business. You will spend your time gathering data, observing how decisions are made, and turning those observations into clear written notes. The goal is not to produce hundreds of pages of analysis, but to find the few specific details that explain why a project is stalling or why a team feels stuck. You will be helping us make management easier for our clients by providing them with a quiet, reliable record of their own progress.

What you will do
  • Participate in remote calls and interviews to capture decisions, open questions, and specific handoffs between teams.
  • Turn raw notes and recordings into concise summaries that highlight the most important themes.
  • Review internal client documents to map out how information currently flows from one department to another.
  • Help maintain a centralized project record so that every team member knows what was decided and who owns the next step.
  • Conduct basic research into management structures and meeting rhythms to provide context for our recommendations.
  • Assist in the preparation of briefing materials that help our consultants stay informed before client sessions.
  • Identify recurring issues in client data, such as meeting overlaps or unclear reporting lines, and summarize them clearly.
  • Update project trackers and documentation regularly to ensure all information is current and accurate.

What we are looking for
  • A direct and plain writing style. You should be able to explain a complex situation without using corporate jargon or fluff.
  • Excellent attention to detail. You notice when a small detail in a meeting contradicts an earlier decision.
  • Strong organizational habits. You enjoy creating order out of messy information and keeping documents tidy.
  • A calm and steady approach to tasks. You can focus on quiet work and take the time needed to get a summary right.
  • Willingness to learn. You are curious about how businesses work and how people collaborate in a professional setting.
  • Reliability in a remote setting. You are comfortable managing your own schedule and meeting deadlines without being chased.
  • A preference for clarity. You would rather ask a clarifying question than guess at what a client meant.

Helpful background
  • Basic familiarity with document editors and spreadsheet tools for organizing lists and notes.
  • Previous experience in an internship or a part time role that required careful record keeping or reporting.
  • Educational background in business, social sciences, communications, or a related field where writing was a primary focus.
  • Experience summarizing long texts or discussions into brief, understandable points.
  • Comfort using remote communication tools to stay in touch with a distributed team throughout the day.

What we offer
This is a permanent, full time position that is conducted entirely remotely. We offer a competitive salary that is attractive for an entry level research role and reflects the value you bring to our team. You will have the opportunity to learn a practical, no nonsense approach to consulting that focuses on helping people work better together. We value quiet focus, clear writing, and a healthy work life balance that respects your time outside of work hours.

About Olive Tree Consulting
Olive Tree Consulting Group is a focused advisory practice that helps leadership teams solve recurring management issues. We typically work on the space between strategy and daily execution. A team can have very capable people and still find that decisions keep reopening, priorities stall, or responsibility remains unclear. These are rarely personality problems; they are structural habits that have not kept up with the company growth.
We favor practical changes over large scale transformation programs. Our work involves looking at how decisions are made, how meetings are run, and how ownership is recorded. We prefer useful written notes and clear ownership over polished presentations and vague alignment. Good advisory work should make things plainer and leave the team with a rhythm they can continue on their own.
The firm is built on the principle that memory is not a management system. We help teams create the smallest possible written record to support their work so that important follow up does not depend on who was in the room or who has the best memory. The goal is a quieter management pattern that makes the existing work easier to lead.
