This is a client-facing role at the intersection of legal knowledge, policy, and innovation. The successful candidate will work closely with clients and fee-earners to understand their needs and deliver high-impact, curated thought leadership and knowledge resources. A central part of the role involves horizon scanning across the legal, regulatory, and market landscape and translating developments into actionable insights for both the practice and our clients, liaising with industry associations and regulatory bodies to help shape the firm’s engagement on key regulatory developments. The role will also be instrumental in transforming the FinTech practice into an AI-first practice, championing the adoption of AI tools and innovative technology across all aspects of the team's work. The role will be located in our London office and may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence. Responsibilities & Qualifications Other key responsibilities include: Engaging directly with clients and fee-earners to understand their priorities and deliver tailored knowledge, insight, and thought leadership that addresses their needs Conducting horizon scanning across legal, regulatory, and market developments for the FinTech practice and informing attorneys and clients of important developments through curated client alerts, emails, bulletins, training, or other appropriate means, ensuring the firm's profile remains at the forefront of the FinTech market Driving the transformation of the FinTech practice into an AI-first practice by championing the adoption of AI tools and innovative technology, working closely with the wider Knowledge Management team, the Legal Innovation team, AI Services Attorneys, and other Technology & Information Services colleagues to embed these into the practice's workflows Liaising with industry associations and regulatory bodies, including reviewing and drafting responses to consultation papers and other policy initiatives, and helping to shape the firm's engagement on key regulatory developments Participating in external forums with members of the wider legal community and external service providers in order to keep abreast of regulatory and industry developments Drafting, maintaining, and curating knowledge resources and supporting substantive training efforts as needed for the practice Generally acting as a sounding board for ad hoc legal and technical queries from attorneys Interacting with Research Services, Business Development, Brand & Communications, and other administrative departments on a knowledgeable and professional level We’d love to hear from you if you: Are a solicitor qualified in England and Wales Have strong client-facing skills and a genuine interest in understanding what clients need from a FinTech practice Have strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail Demonstrate the ability to convey complex legal and regulatory concepts in plain English Are a self-starter, willing to take the initiative and able to perform responsibilities without close supervision Have a keen interest in the future of knowledge management and innovation And have: A Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent) A minimum of five (5) years’ post-qualification experience as a qualified, practicing attorney in the FinTech practice in a leading international law firm Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to interact effectively with people at all organisational levels of the firm The ability to work independently and deliver projects of significant complexity on a timely basis Latham & Watkins has a well-established Knowledge Management program with defined career progression routes which recognize the experience our colleagues bring to their role. Whilst our expectation is that candidates will have 5 years PQE or more, we are open to candidates at all levels, including those with very significant experience in this field.
