On 1 April 2026, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) became one national organisation, focused on continuity today and a stronger, more connected service for tomorrow.

As part of this transformation, NSS and NES have joined to form a new organisation: Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland). This new organisation will play a pivotal role in supporting the renewal and ensuring the long-term sustainability of health and care services across Scotland.

About The Organisation

PSD Scotland unites expertise from NES and NSS in a way that will allow us to accelerate national programmes to support the NHS to deliver better care, now and in the future.

We support staff with education and training, provide the tools and data that improve services, and run vital national functions such as procurement, logistics and blood, tissue and cell services.

The Post

As a major division within NHS Public Services Delivery Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.

This post provides a challenging role for a suitably experienced and motivated medical laboratory professional able to work in a busy and changing environment.

Supporting the Regional Head of Service, you will be responsible for managing the day to day activities of the Dundee Blood Bank laboratory within Patient Services including line management duties, ensuring adherence to UKAS standards and MHRA regulations through the QMS and managing change.

The Candidate

The post requires close Multidisciplinary team working and excellent interpersonal skills and you will be required you to work flexibly to meet the SNBTS corporate objectives. The post holder will be expected to travel throughout Scotland as required to support service delivery.

Candidates must have current HCPC registration at the time of applying and able to demonstrate success in a supervisory role within a critical laboratory service operating to tight deadlines. You will have a wealth of experience in blood transfusion. A post graduate professional qualification or equivalent experience within Transfusion Science is required for the role, which will align with technical abilities to support service delivery; in parallel it’s important that you have a proven track record in management, leadership, teaching abilities as well as your awareness of the importance of meeting our customers’ and stakeholders needs.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

Location and Working Pattern:

SNBTS Dundee, Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.

Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.

The post holder may be required to work unsocial hours as required to support service delivery.
