Job Title: Land Surveyor Technician

Location: New York / New Jersey (Hybrid) – 1 day per week in Haddonfield, NJ

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $50,000 – $65,000 (based on experience) + profit share

How You'll Get to Contribute

The Land Surveyor Technician will support field and office survey operations across New York and New Jersey, working under the direction of the Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) and Survey Manager. This individual will play a key role in data collection, drafting, and processing survey deliverables, while gaining hands-on exposure to boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, right-of-way, utility, and construction surveys. This is a strong opportunity for a technically-minded individual looking to grow their surveying career within a collaborative, project-driven team.



What You'll Get to Do

  • Assist field crews with boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, right-of-way, utility, construction, and as-built surveys.
  • Operate GPS units, robotic total stations, terrestrial scanning equipment, and UAV data collection tools (where applicable).
  • Process and reduce field data; assist with drafting base maps, plats, exhibits, and survey drawings in CAD (e.g., AutoCAD/Civil 3D).
  • Support preparation of survey calculations, legal descriptions, and supporting documentation under PLS review.
  • Research and review deeds, plats, easements, title reports, and legal descriptions to support project deliverables.
  • Maintain field notes, equipment logs, and project files in accordance with company quality control procedures.
  • Coordinate with the Survey Manager and PLS on project scheduling, deliverable timelines, and site logistics.
  • Support construction staking and construction support services as assigned.
  • Assist with equipment calibration, maintenance, and inventory management.
  • Collaborate with engineering, environmental, and construction management teams on multidisciplinary projects.



Who You Are

Required

  • Associate degree or coursework in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent field experience.
  • 1–4 years of experience in land surveying, survey CAD drafting, or a related field role.
  • Working knowledge of survey field equipment (GPS, robotic total stations) and survey data collection/reduction software.
  • Basic proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD/Civil 3D preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret field notes, plans, and legal documents.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions.
  • Valid driver's license with ability to travel throughout New York and New Jersey.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

  • Survey-in-Training (SIT) certification or progress toward licensure.
  • Experience supporting transportation, highway, bridge, utility, or infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with DOT, Port Authority, municipal, or public agency surveying requirements.
  • Exposure to terrestrial laser scanning or mobile LiDAR technologies.
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification (preferred but not required).
