Land Use & Zoning Attorney

About the Role

Join a real estate law practice advising developers, property owners, institutions, and investors on land use, zoning, and related regulatory matters in New York City. Your work will support acquisitions, development projects, and public approval processes.

What You'll Do

• Conduct zoning due diligence for acquisitions and financings, and prepare written analyses of floor area, use, bulk, height, and setbacks.

• Advise clients on development rights transactions, including air rights and zoning lot development agreements.

• Prepare and manage discretionary land use applications, including rezonings, variances, special permits, environmental review, and landmark matters.

• Coordinate with architects, consultants, community boards, and elected officials throughout public review.

• Work with transactional attorneys on acquisitions and development projects.

• Advise property owners on rent regulation matters and represent them in administrative proceedings.

What We're Looking For

• Four to ten years of experience in New York real estate law, including NYC zoning and residential rent regulation.

• Strong working knowledge of the NYC Zoning Resolution, Rent Stabilization Law, and HSTPA.

• Experience with zoning due diligence and land use applications, as well as DHCR proceedings such as owner applications, tenant complaints, or administrative appeals.

• Experience representing landlords or owners, including advice on acquisition diligence, tenant buyouts, building vacates, or demolition projects.

• Admission to the New York Bar and strong academic credentials.

• A record of sustained tenure with employers and clear communication about relevant employment history.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $250,000 to $275,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
