Salary Range: CA$98,927.18 To CA$203,233.84 Annually We are looking for Staff Lawyer (hybrid, full time - three (3) permanent positions) with a minimum of three (3) plus years of criminal law experience to join our team at the La Ronge area office. Our lawyer competitive salary is in the range of $98,927.18 up to $203,233.84 based on years of relevant experience and Call to Bar years. In addition to salary, our generous and comprehensive benefit package includes employer’s paid extended health & dental family coverage; paid sick time; three weeks of paid vacation at the start, plus scheduled or earned days off (12 SDOs or 26 EDOs per year for support staff and 12 SDOs per year for lawyers); 14 Statutory holidays; pension match 6.35%; relocation assistance if applicable and more . For more information visit: legalaid.sk.ca/about/careers/ Our staff at our La Ronge office besides above listed benefits and time off entitlements, in addition to only applicable to the Northern office earns additional week of vacation and $200 monthly northern living allowance. Responsibilities Under the leadership of the Legal Director, key staff lawyer responsibilities include but are not limited to: Conduct of assigned files to professional standards and in accordance with the policies and procedures of Legal Aid Saskatchewan & the Law Society of Saskatchewan. Conduct preliminary inquiries, pre-trials, case conferences, trials, reviews & appeals. Negotiate competent resolutions of files to achieve fair, early and lasting outcomes for clients. Represent clients at bail hearings, guilty pleas and remands both in-person and remotely. Work independently on cases as assigned by the Legal Director. Complete and accurate time entry and record keeping. Position Requirements Law degree from a recognized law school. Experience in criminal law. Member in good standing with the Law Society of Saskatchewan. Familiarity with the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action; the United Nations declaration on the Rights of Indigenous people. Technologically savvy with a keen enthusiasm for learning new systems including, computer literacy in MS Office, web-based legal research tools, and other web-based resources. Commitment to social justice and an understanding of the needs and challenges faced by low-income and marginalized communities. Demonstrated time management and ability to deal with conflicting priorities and deadlines. Valid Driver’s License – Class 5.
