Lead Architect

Heron Architecture + Engineering is a growing multidisciplinary architecture, engineering, and consultancy firm based in Jakarta, Indonesia. We work across architecture, engineering, construction management, and technical consultancy, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions for complex projects.

We are looking for an experienced Lead Architect to join our growing team and take a leading role in both project delivery and business development.

Unlike larger organizations, our team structure allows senior professionals to work closely with the Managing Director, clients, and project stakeholders, take ownership of projects, and play an active role in shaping the direction and growth of the company.

Key Responsibilities

Architectural Leadership & Project Delivery

• Lead architectural design and development from concept through detailed design and construction documentation.
• Manage architectural deliverables, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements and applicable Indonesian standards and regulations.
• Coordinate architectural works with structural, mechanical, electrical, BIM, and other disciplines.
• Review and develop architectural drawings, specifications, details, and technical documentation.
• Lead design coordination with clients, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
• Participate in client meetings, presentations, design reviews, and technical discussions.
• Develop practical architectural solutions that balance design quality, functionality, constructability, cost, and project schedule.
• Review and supervise the work of architects and other design team members.

Business Development

• Identify and develop new business opportunities across architecture, engineering, and consultancy services.
• Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients, consultants, contractors, developers, and other industry stakeholders.
• Participate in client meetings, presentations, networking activities, and industry events.
• Support the preparation of proposals, capability statements, fee submissions, and project pitches.
• Understand client requirements and help develop appropriate technical and commercial solutions.
• Work closely with the Managing Director and other discipline leads to convert business opportunities into projects.
• Develop long-term client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat business.

Company Development

• Contribute to the development of Heron's architectural capabilities, design standards, and project delivery processes.
• Help build and mentor the architectural team as the company grows.
• Take an active role in developing Heron's market presence, reputation, and service offerings.
• Contribute ideas and initiatives that improve the way the company operates and delivers projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
• 10+ years of relevant professional experience, preferably with experience leading architectural projects or multidisciplinary teams.
• Licensed/registered architect in Indonesia.
• Strong knowledge of architectural design, technical documentation, and construction processes.
• Experience coordinating with structural and MEP engineering disciplines.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit; experience with BIM workflows is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of Indonesian building regulations and permitting requirements.
• Good communication and presentation skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
• Strong client-facing and interpersonal skills.
• Commercial awareness and an interest in business development.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-growing consulting environment.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and professional judgment.
• Experience in commercial, industrial, data center, high-tech, or other technically complex projects is highly desirable.
• An established network of clients, consultants, developers, contractors, or other industry contacts is an advantage.
