Job Type: B2B Contract

Location: Remote in Germany

Contract Length: 6 months (extendable)

Lead Data Engineer (Google Cloud) - Role & Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on GCP data engineering solutions, with a focus on BigQuery, Dataproc, Cloud Composer (Airflow), and cloud-based data processing best practices.
• Support the migration of legacy ETL and data warehouse workloads to Google Cloud, defining orchestration, scheduling, and workflow dependencies.
• Develop and maintain scalable Dataproc (Spark/PySpark) pipelines to transform and process data while preserving existing business logic.
• Work closely with engineering and migration teams to investigate, resolve, and validate data pipeline issues throughout testing and deployment.
• Improve the performance, scalability, and cost efficiency of BigQuery datasets, queries, and Dataproc workloads through ongoing optimization.

Lead Data Engineer (Google Cloud) - Required Experience

• Fluent in both German and English, with excellent communication skills in both languages.
• Proven hands-on experience with GCP data technologies, including BigQuery, Dataproc, Cloud Composer (Airflow), and Cloud Storage.
• Strong development skills in Python and/or PySpark, with experience building robust data engineering solutions.
• Solid understanding of Airflow workflow design, scheduling strategies, dependency management, and SQL-based data modelling.
• Previous experience delivering cloud data migration projects is highly desirable, with knowledge of legacy ETL platforms (e.g. Ab Initio), CI/CD tooling (Terraform, Cloud Build), or enterprise scheduling/database technologies such as UC4, Oracle, or SQL Server considered advantageous.
