ABOUT FEODA
Feoda designs specialized financial solutions for schools, informed by years of direct collaboration with school finance teams and their operational challenges. The company’s flagship product, Pulse by Feoda, is a financial planning and analysis platform that replaces spreadsheet-heavy processes with structured budgeting, forecasting, scenario modelling, and financial analysis. Pulse is built around how schools actually plan and operate, using AI to help finance teams analyze data and reach decisions more quickly. Feoda’s expertise also spans Oracle NetSuite consulting and implementation, providing end-to-end support across billing, receivables, collections, reporting, and financial planning. The company works with schools across Australia, the Middle East, and other international markets, helping finance teams spend less time managing systems and more time on strategic financial decisions.
THE ROLE
You will lead the developers who build our cloud products, and you will write code yourself every week. You own the technical outcome: architecture, code quality, releases, infrastructure and the AI features. You will work with the Head of Technology, a dedicated QA engineer, support and the wider Feoda team.
Much of our code is drafted by AI tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot. Your job is to make that fast and safe: clear specifications, tests that prove each change, and reviews that catch what an agent got wrong.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Technical leadership
• Own the architecture of our products with the Head of Technology, including multi-tenant data isolation, financial calculations, integrations and AI services. Record decisions as architecture decision records.
• Turn requirements and use cases into small, demonstrable increments, each with its risks, an estimate and a test plan.
• Set how the team works with AI agents: how work is briefed, which tests must pass, how output is reviewed, and what agents must never touch, such as production data and secrets.
• Review pull requests for correctness, security, tenant isolation and performance, and keep the main branches ready to release.
Hands-on development
• Build critical features end to end: Fastify APIs, PostgreSQL schema and migrations, and Next.js screens.
• Keep large data fast with server-side paging, drawing only what is on screen, efficient SQL and load tests.
• Build AI features that hold up in production: tool calling, structured outputs, context design, human confirmation before any action, usage metering and cost limits, evaluation against known answers, and fallbacks when a model is unavailable.
• Build and maintain integrations with ERP systems, spreadsheets, email, single sign-on and payment providers.
• Find the root cause of production issues from logs, metrics and the database, such as connection pool exhaustion, slow queries or memory pressure. Fix it with a test that fails before the fix and passes after.
Infrastructure and releases
• Run the Dev, QA and Production environments on Microsoft Azure: Container Apps, PostgreSQL, Key Vault, Communication Services and Entra ID, defined in Terraform.
• Run releases through Azure DevOps: pull request policies, CI gates, ordered database migrations that only add, promotion from Dev to QA to Production, smoke tests on live environments, and a rollback plan for every release.
• Keep security tight: secrets in Key Vault, least-privilege access, audit logs, data residency, single sign-on with Microsoft and Google, and email authentication with SPF, DKIM and DMARC.
• Plan for growth as clients are added, through monitoring, rate limits and capacity reviews.
Team leadership
• Lead and mentor a small team of full-stack and integration developers, and help them work well with AI agents.
• Learn our development process in depth, then guarantee it on every piece of work: an approved plan before building, tests that prove the change, review, and a controlled release. When the process falls short, improve it and make sure the team follows the new version.
• Make sure everything is documented to our standards. Requirements, architecture decisions, the changelog and the user manual are updated in the same piece of work as the code, never later.
• Keep the team learning: share what works, turn each defect and QA finding into a lesson for everyone, and keep up with fast-moving AI tools and practices.
• Work closely with QA: reproduce each finding, fix it, prove the fix with automated and browser tests, and report back what changed.
• Take part in hiring, including practical interviews that use AI tools.
OUR STACK
Backend: Fastify 5, Kysely, PostgreSQL 16 with row-level security, Zod, Redis and BullMQ
Frontend: Next.js 15, React 19, Tailwind CSS 4, TanStack Query and Table
Testing: Vitest and Playwright
Claude and other large language models, called through our own agent services with metering and fallbacks
Cloud: Azure Container Apps, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Key Vault, Communication Services, Entra ID, Terraform, Docker and Dev Containers
Delivery: Azure DevOps Repos, Pipelines and Boards, with a GitHub mirror
Integrations: ERP systems, Excel, Microsoft and Google sign-in, payment and email providers
WHAT YOU BRING
• 5+ years building production web applications, including time as a senior or lead developer guiding others.
• Expert TypeScript and Node.js, and strong React. Next.js experience is a plus.
• Strong PostgreSQL: schema design, query tuning, transactions, migrations and multi-tenant data isolation.
• Experience building and running a multi-tenant SaaS product in production.
• Daily use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor or GitHub Copilot, and a clear method for checking their work.
• Experience building features on large language model APIs: tool calling or structured outputs, context and prompt design, cost control and evaluation.
• Hands-on cloud experience, ideally on Azure: containers, managed databases, secrets, networking basics and infrastructure as code.
• CI/CD with gated promotion between environments, and Git with pull request reviews.
• Automated testing at unit, API and browser level.
• Excellent spoken and written English. You will lead technical discussions with the team, management and clients, and record decisions in writing.
NICE TO HAVE
• Finance or ERP knowledge: budgeting and forecasting, accounts receivable, the general ledger or financial statements.
• ERP integration experience, for example with Oracle NetSuite or Microsoft Dynamics 365.
• Arabic, or experience building right-to-left interfaces.
• Spreadsheet-style interfaces, grid virtualisation or calculation engines.
• Billing, invoicing or payment systems.
• Redis and job queues, Terraform, and Azure DevOps.
• A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field.
