Role Overview Join a high-impact cloud migration initiative with a leading gaming company. We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer who’s passionate about AWS, thrives in complex environments, and wants to play a key role in a major cloud transformation project, focused on modernising backup and disaster recovery (DR) capabilities for large-scale, player-facing platforms. This role involves hands-on engineering to ensure high availability, data durability, and rapid recovery for critical gaming workloads, including player data and backend services operating at scale. Key Responsibilities: This role will be Lead in the team of x3 Cloudworkz senior engineers. The project is complex and new and requires strong stakeholder management skills and also strong technical depth. · Design and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for cloud-native gaming platforms · Ensure data protection and recovery for critical systems (e.g. player profiles, game state) · Work with AWS services such as: Aurora / RDS / DynamoDB (database resilience and backups) S3 (backup storage, lifecycle policies, replication) · Implement and manage: Automated backups, snapshots, and point-in-time recovery (PITR) · Cross-region replication and failover mechanisms · Develop Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) for scalable and repeatable environments · Build automation using Python for backup, monitoring, and operational work · Improve monitoring and observability for backup and recovery processes · Collaborate closely with AWS technical teams and Customer backup & platform engineering teams Required Skills & Experience · Strong hands-on experience with AWS in production environments · Advanced Terraform (IaC) skills · Solid Python scripting for automation · Experience with databases: PostgreSQL, Aurora, and/or DynamoDB · Hands-on experience with: Backup and restore operations · Disaster recovery (DR) design and implementation · Strong understanding of: RTO / RPO concepts High availability and failover strategies · Experience with S3 storage patterns (lifecycle policies, replication, tiering) · Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (e.g. CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana) Nice to Have · Experience in gaming or high-scale consumer platforms · Exposure to multi-region architectures · Understanding of security best practices for backup and data protection Engagement Details · Duration: ~5 months (full-time) · Start: Immediate / upcoming weeks · Collaboration: Direct with AWS and customer teams
