The Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Design Engineer to lead the electrical design and engineering activities for large-scale global data center projects.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership throughout the design lifecycle, coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, review electrical systems and calculations, and ensure that designs comply with applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and project specifications.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior electrical engineering professional with strong data center or mission-critical infrastructure experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design activities for large-scale data center and mission-critical projects.
• Develop and review electrical design concepts, calculations, specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Lead the design of medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
• Develop and review single-line diagrams, load schedules, electrical layouts, and equipment specifications.
• Design and coordinate power distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, and associated equipment.
• Support the design of emergency power and backup power systems.
• Review electrical protection, grounding, bonding, and lightning protection systems.
• Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, structural, architectural, civil, fire protection, and other engineering disciplines.
• Provide technical leadership to electrical engineers and design teams.
• Review engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, equipment selections, and technical submissions.
• Ensure electrical designs meet project requirements, applicable codes, and industry standards.
• Participate in design reviews, technical workshops, value engineering, and constructability reviews.
• Identify design risks, technical issues, and potential project constraints.
• Develop practical engineering solutions while maintaining reliability, safety, efficiency, and maintainability.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, equipment manufacturers, and internal stakeholders.
• Review vendor documentation and technical submittals.
• Support equipment selection and technical evaluation processes.
• Participate in factory acceptance testing, commissioning, and site technical activities when required.
• Support the development of electrical system studies, including load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, and arc-flash analysis.
• Monitor design deliverables, schedules, and technical quality.
• Provide technical input to project planning, cost estimation, and procurement activities.
• Ensure designs consider redundancy, resilience, maintainability, and operational continuity.
• Support the development and improvement of engineering standards and design procedures.
• Provide technical guidance during construction and resolve electrical design-related issues.
• Ensure all engineering documentation is accurate, coordinated, and delivered on schedule.
• Mentor junior and intermediate electrical engineers.
• Contribute to continuous improvement across global data center engineering projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 8+ years of electrical engineering and design experience, preferably including large-scale data center or mission-critical infrastructure projects.
• Strong experience with electrical power distribution and critical power systems.
• Experience with medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems.
• Strong understanding of UPS, generators, transformers, switchgear, ATS/STS, and power distribution systems.
• Experience with electrical design calculations and engineering analysis.
• Strong knowledge of relevant electrical codes, standards, and engineering practices.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong technical design-review and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience with engineering software and electrical design tools.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM, or similar engineering tools is an advantage.
• Understanding of data center redundancy concepts such as N, N+1, 2N, and 2N+1 is highly desirable.
• Experience with mission-critical facilities, high-availability infrastructure, or critical power environments is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety, protection, grounding, and power quality.
• Excellent technical documentation and reporting skills.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder-management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple technical priorities and project deadlines.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Ability to work effectively with international and multicultural engineering teams.
• UAE/GCC experience is an advantage but not required.
• Professional engineering registration or certification is an advantage.
• PMP, PE, CEng, or other relevant professional certifications are welcome but not mandatory.
