Turning data into action and insight into impact.

At Retail Insight, we help retailers and brands unlock opportunities through data, analytics and actionable insight. We're looking for a Lead Insight Analyst to join our team, delivering high-impact analytics that influence commercial decisions and drive measurable business outcomes for our retail clients.

This isn't a traditional reporting role. You'll be a trusted analytics partner, working closely with internal teams and client stakeholders to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations that help businesses make smarter decisions.

You'll have the opportunity to work on a variety of analytical challenges, respond to bespoke business questions and deliver insights that make a real difference to our clients.

If you enjoy solving problems, building relationships and using data to tell compelling stories, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

As a Lead Insight Analyst, you'll work collaboratively with Retail Insight colleagues and client stakeholders to deliver meaningful analysis that supports strategic and operational decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a trusted analytics partner, building strong relationships with internal teams and client stakeholders.
  • Managing and delivering bespoke, ad-hoc insight requests across a range of business functions.
  • Translating complex datasets into meaningful, actionable recommendations that drive commercial value.
  • Identifying trends, risks and opportunities within retail performance data.
  • Presenting analytical findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear, engaging and compelling way.
  • Leading analytical projects from initial brief through to delivery, ensuring high-quality outputs and timely execution.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior analysts, sharing knowledge and promoting analytical best practice.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency, quality and alignment with client objectives.
  • Helping to shape and evolve our insight solutions based on changing client needs and business priorities.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities to improve analytical processes, approaches and outcomes.

What we're looking for

You'll be someone who combines strong analytical capability with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. You're naturally curious, commercially minded and enjoy turning complex problems into practical solutions.

We're particularly interested in people who have:

  • Significant experience in data, analytics or insight-focused roles.
  • Experience working with business stakeholders or external clients to understand requirements and deliver meaningful insights.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and identify opportunities.
  • A proven ability to translate data into practical, commercially focused recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage stakeholders at different levels.
  • Experience managing analytical projects and balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to challenge assumptions, ask the right questions and recommend solutions.
  • Experience supporting or mentoring other analysts would be advantageous.
  • Experience within grocery retail, FMCG or consumer-facing industries would be advantageous.

Technical skills

We'd love to see experience with some of the following:

  • SQL
  • Power BI, Tableau or similar data visualisation tools
  • Advanced Excel
  • Data analysis and statistical methodologies
  • Retail, sales or customer performance metrics
