Is this job info correct?

The Lead Instrumentation and Controls Engineer owns the end-to-end instrumentation and controls design of integrated gas skid and station solutions that support safe, reliable fuel-gas supply for mission-critical data center gas power infrastructure. Fuel gas skids and station solutions include fuel gas conditioning skids, gas flow metering skids, pressure regulation and monitoring skids and gas composition analysis stations. This role delivers safe, reliable, constructible, and cost-effective designs for large projects. The engineer integrates gas metering, pressure regulation, gas-quality analysis, fixed gas detection, flow computing, and process instrumentation to ensure dependable fuel-gas supply, accurate energy measurement, protection of critical equipment, and continuous operational visibility.

Success in this role is demonstrated through delivering complete and accurate design packages on schedule while ensuring compliance with customer, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements; minimizing design-related rework during fabrication, installation, and commissioning; effectively managing technical risk, scope, cost, schedule, and interfaces; achieving successful factory and site acceptance with reliable system performance; and driving continuous improvements through standardization, design reuse, and enhanced engineering efficiency.

You will report directly to our General Manager and you’ll work out of our Houston, TX location on a Hybrid work schedule.

Hybrid Work Schedule Note: For the first 90 days New Hires must be prepared to work 100% onsite Monday – Friday.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own instrumentation and controls design and technical execution for large gas skid or station projects supporting data center applications.
  • Translate customer specifications, process requirements, mechanical designs, equipment data, and site constraints into an integrated controls solution.
  • Develop and maintain the controls design basis, control philosophy, functional specifications, control narratives, cause-and-effect matrices, I/O lists, instrument indexes, data sheets, loop drawings, wiring and interconnection drawings, panel layouts, network architecture, cable schedules, and bills of material.
  • Specify and integrate gas flow meters, flow computers, pressure-control regulators, safety valves, gas-quality analyzers, fixed gas-detection systems, pressure and temperature transmitters, actuated valves, control panels, PLC or DCS hardware, HMI interfaces, and communications equipment.
  • Design control, alarm, interlock, permissive, shutdown, and monitoring strategies that support safe operation, reliable gas delivery, accurate measurement, equipment protection, and rapid fault diagnosis.
  • Define data and communications interfaces with generator packages, facility controls, supervisory systems, and remote monitoring platforms using appropriate industrial protocols.
  • Coordinate hazardous-area requirements, functional-safety considerations, equipment ratings, grounding, power, signal segregation, cybersecurity requirements, and environmental conditions with the responsible engineering and safety authorities.
  • Lead design reviews, technical clarifications, risk assessments, interface reviews, and constructability discussions with customers and multidisciplinary project teams.
