The role

As a Lead Mechanical Construction Planner, you'll take ownership of mechanical construction planning activities on a major infrastructure programme, leading a team responsible for ensuring construction schedules are integrated, achievable and aligned with key project milestones. Your work will provide critical visibility of construction readiness, interfaces, constraints and schedule risks, supporting the safe, coordinated and predictable delivery of complex engineering works.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a project that supports the UK's future infrastructure and engineering capability. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you'll help drive project success while developing your leadership, planning and project controls expertise in a dynamic environment at the forefront of engineering excellence.

Day-to-day, you'll be required to:

• Leading and coordinating the Mechanical Construction Planning team to support project delivery.
• Developing and maintaining integrated Level 5 mechanical construction schedules aligned to programme milestones.
• Confirming activities entering the four-week planning window are sufficiently mature and ready for construction.
• Identifying and managing interfaces between mechanical, electrical, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and other delivery disciplines.
• Producing mechanical planning reports, progress reviews and contributions to the overall 16-week lookahead programme.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based at Hinkley Point C. Hybrid working patterns are available.

Requirements:

• Significant experience, typically 10 years or more, within a construction planning, project controls or engineering planning environment.
• Experience leading or managing planning teams within major construction or infrastructure projects.
• Experience developing and managing integrated construction schedules.
• Experience using Primavera P6 planning software.
• Experience working in site-based construction, maintenance, outage or shutdown planning environments
• Higher National Certificate in an Engineering discipline.

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
