ROLE SUMMARY

Curative PLLC has two complementary Lead Medical Director positions: one with primary responsibility for the Baseline Visit program and one with primary responsibility for Primary Care.

The Lead Medical Directors collaborate closely with one another and with Care Navigators, advanced practice professionals, and clinical, product, operations, compliance, and analytics partners while maintaining independent clinical judgment and protecting patient confidentiality. Each role is accountable for using reliable data, key performance indicators, and regular reporting to improve access, quality, safety, continuity, clinician performance, and member experience.

CURATIVE CARE MODEL

The Curative Baseline Visit is an annual member experience with two parts. Benefit onboarding helps members understand their plan and available resources. The clinical check-in is a one-on-one visit with a Curative clinician to review health history, answer health questions, and create a personalized care plan. The Lead Medical Director with primary responsibility for the Baseline Visit program leads its clinical component and ensures that identified needs lead to appropriate follow-up, primary care, specialty care, or care-management support.

Primary care extends that initial assessment into ongoing clinical care. It includes prevention, evaluation and treatment of common acute concerns, management of stable chronic conditions, medication management, diagnostic testing, referrals, and follow-up. The Lead Medical Director with primary responsibility for Primary Care leads this longitudinal care model. The two Lead Medical Directors work together to connect services so members experience clear ownership and continuity rather than a one-time encounter. As Curative PLLC evolves, either Lead Medical Director may lead care delivered through Primary Care or telemedicine and may support the other portfolio as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Baseline clinical care

• Conduct virtual Baseline clinical check-ins using Curative protocols and sound clinical judgment.
• Review the member’s medical, surgical, family, social, medication, allergy, and preventive-care history; clarify health concerns, goals, and barriers to care.
• Identify preventive-care needs and clinically significant risks, address questions within the scope of the visit, and develop a practical health roadmap with the member.
• Recognize findings that require urgent evaluation, longitudinal primary care, specialty care, behavioral health, pharmacy support, or care management, and make a safe handoff.
• Document the encounter, assessment, plan, member education, referrals, and follow-up needs accurately and on time in the designated clinical systems.
• Coordinate with Care Navigators while maintaining the boundary between benefit navigation and clinical decision-making and protecting confidential health information.

Primary care

• Provide accessible, evidence-based preventive, acute, and chronic primary care through telehealth and arrange in-person evaluation when the patient’s clinical needs require it.
• Evaluate symptoms, establish differential diagnoses, order and interpret appropriate laboratory and imaging studies, and communicate results and next steps.
• Prescribe and manage medications within the physician’s scope, including medication reconciliation, monitoring, patient education, and coordination with pharmacy resources.
• Manage common and stable chronic conditions, close preventive-care gaps, and establish clear follow-up plans that support continuity of care.
• Refer patients to emergency, urgent, specialty, behavioral health, or other services when clinically indicated and coordinate transitions across the care team.
• Practice within licensure, telehealth, prescribing, privacy, documentation, and professional standards in every state where care is delivered.

Clinical leadership

• Supervise and collaborate with advanced practice professionals in accordance with applicable law, scope-of-practice requirements, and Curative Medical policies.
• Provide case consultation, escalation support, feedback, and mentorship to clinicians, including support for complex or high-risk presentations.
• Collaborate with the other Lead Medical Director to define and maintain clinical workflows, protocols, documentation standards, escalation pathways, and handoffs between Baseline Visits, Primary Care, and telemedicine services.
• Review quality, safety, access, member-experience, and documentation trends; lead practical improvements and follow through on corrective actions.
• Support clinician onboarding, calibration, and continuing education so care remains consistent across clinicians, modalities, and states.
• Partner with clinical, product, operations, compliance, and health-plan teams to improve services while preserving physician independence and appropriate separation between clinical and non-clinical functions.
• Represent Curative PLLC with internal and external stakeholders as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer.

Performance measurement and reporting

• Partner with the Chief Medical Officer to define, maintain, and periodically reassess a clinical scorecard with clear KPI definitions, data sources, owners, targets, and reporting cadence.
• Monitor measures such as access and appointment availability, Baseline clinical completion and timeliness, documentation quality, follow-up and referral closure, preventive-care gaps, clinician productivity, safety events, and member experience.
• Produce concise, accurate reports for the Chief Medical Officer and other approved stakeholders that explain performance against targets, material trends, operational or clinical risks, root causes, and corrective actions.
• Use stratified data to identify unwarranted variation across clinicians, states, modalities, and member populations; distinguish meaningful signals from normal variation before recommending action.
• Validate metric logic and data quality with analytics and operational partners, document limitations, and avoid overstating clinical outcomes or attributing causation when the data do not support it.
• Translate KPI findings into accountable improvement plans, monitor whether interventions work, and report progress and unresolved barriers.

AI and data enabled clinical operations

• Use approved AI and analytics tools to support clinical documentation, information synthesis, literature review, workflow analysis, quality monitoring, and preparation of performance reports.
• Review and validate AI-generated content and recommendations before use; retain physician accountability for clinical decisions, communications, and reports.
• Protect patient information by using only approved systems and following applicable privacy, security, record-retention, and AI-governance requirements.
• Evaluate proposed AI use cases for clinical value, workflow fit, bias, safety, explainability, and measurable performance before broader implementation.
• Work with analytics, product, compliance, and clinical teams to test tools, define human oversight, monitor performance after launch, and address errors or unintended consequences.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an accredited residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
• Valid, unrestricted Texas medical license and willingness to obtain and maintain additional state licenses as requested.
• Current, unrestricted DEA registration and ability to meet applicable controlled-substance prescribing requirements.
• Ability to complete credentialing and remain in good standing with Curative Health Plan and other required entities.
• Experience providing primary care and making safe, independent clinical decisions in virtual and in-person settings.
• Clear written and verbal communication, reliable follow-through, sound judgment, and a collaborative leadership approach.
• Ability to interpret clinical and operational data, define meaningful KPIs, identify data-quality limitations, and communicate findings to clinical and executive audiences.
• Ability to use approved AI tools responsibly and to independently verify their outputs before clinical or operational use.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
• At least two years of in-person primary-care experience.
• Experience delivering telehealth across multiple states or clinical settings.
• Experience supervising, collaborating with, or mentoring advanced practice professionals.
• Quality assurance, quality improvement, peer review, or clinical program development experience.
• Experience building clinical services in a rapidly changing or early-stage environment.
• Comfort using data and clinician feedback to improve access, consistency, safety, and patient experience.
• Experience building dashboards or recurring performance reports with spreadsheet, business-intelligence, statistical, or SQL-based tools.
• Experience evaluating or implementing AI-enabled clinical, documentation, quality, or operational workflows under formal governance.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK AND TRAVEL

This is a full-time, remote, salaried exempt position. Occasional evening or limited weekend work may be required. Travel is expected to be rare and may include occasional travel to Austin or optional travel to employer or other Curative sites.

Note: Curative has no ownership interest in Curative PLLC. Curative PLLC is a separate, physician-owned entity. A Curative affiliate exclusively manages the non-clinical business operations of Curative PLLC.
