About the Role
Lead the platform engineering work behind compute, data, AI, and security infrastructure for a biotechnology sequencing operation. You will connect lab systems with cloud services and data pipelines, helping make scientific workflows reliable and scalable.
What You'll Do
Own services that orchestrate lab devices, including robots, sequencers, and on-premises Linux servers, as well as the data ingestion pipeline.
Build cloud infrastructure and data pipelines to store, process, and deliver large sequencing datasets.
Design systems for scheduling and orchestrating large volumes of bioinformatics tasks.
Develop AI infrastructure and internal tools for operational quality monitoring, logistics coordination, and adaptive bioinformatics analysis.
Lead ambiguous, cross-functional projects from early definition through production, connecting technical decisions to business impact.
What We're Looking For
Typically 5 to 10 or more years of relevant engineering experience, with broad technical ownership and strategic problem-solving skills.
Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud and on-premises security practices, and Linux server administration.
Experience managing Linux-based lab infrastructure and using PostgreSQL in data pipelines.
Familiarity with Python, AWS, and AI or agent tooling is relevant to the technical environment.
Clear communication, cross-functional leadership, and interest in learning from scientific and biological experts.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual salary range: $205,000 to $235,000 USD. Visa sponsorship is available.

Hybrid role based in South San Francisco, California, United States.
