Grow Your Skills, Grow Your Potential
Responsibilities
State Farm is looking for two experienced Lead Software Engineers to develop our internal Ada platform's developer portal. The Portal gives engineers a guided way to request, view, and manage the services and resources they need to build software. These software engineers will build and support that experience, from the user interface through the Portal API’s connection to the Kubernetes control plane.
You’ll work closely with the Experience Orchestration team. They primarily define the platform’s resource APIs and operate Crossplane and KRM; our team builds the Portal and its golden paths, captures the information those APIs need, and helps users understand what happens after a request is submitted.
What you’ll do
- Build and improve the Portal’s guided workflows for workspaces, services, deployables, and other platform capabilities.
- Develop accessible, responsive interfaces that make complex provisioning choices clear to engineers.
- Build and support Portal APIs that validate requests, commit the resource values needed by the control plane, and present provisioning status and errors.
- Work with Experience Orchestration to turn resource definitions into usable workflows and troubleshoot issues across the Portal and control plane.
- Occasionally help author or update XRDs, CRDs, or controllers when a platform capability needs that contribution.
- Test, document, and support the features you deliver.
Qualifications
What you bring
- Strong working knowledge of Kubernetes and Kubernetes Resource Management, including custom resources, schemas, permissions, and desired versus observed state.
- UI/UX development experience with Angular or a comparable modern framework.
- Experience building or integrating APIs and independently delivering tested software features.
- Ability to diagnose problems across application code, GitOps workflows, and Kubernetes resources.
- A practical interest in making platform capabilities understandable and useful to other engineers.
Strongly preferred
- Experience developing in Go.
- Angular and TypeScript experience.
- Experience with Crossplane, XRDs, CRDs, Kubernetes controllers, or controller-runtime.
- Familiarity with GitOps, Argo CD, accessibility practices, and automated UI and API testing.
