Job Description

This is a remote position.

The Learning & Development Coordinator is responsible for helping Tiny Hearts of America build a knowledgeable, capable, and continuously developing team. This position supports the design, coordination, delivery, and tracking of employee and volunteer training, professional development, onboarding, and organizational learning initiatives.

The Learning & Development Coordinator will work closely with organizational leadership, program directors, coordinators, and other team members to identify training needs and ensure that staff and volunteers have the knowledge, resources, and skills necessary to effectively perform their roles.

This position will play an important role in strengthening organizational capacity, improving employee and volunteer performance, supporting compliance requirements, and creating a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

Training & Development

  • Coordinate training and professional development opportunities for employees and volunteers.
  • Assist with identifying organizational and position-specific training needs.
  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain annual learning and development plans.
  • Research affordable or free training opportunities appropriate for nonprofit and human-services organizations.
  • Assist with developing internal training materials, presentations, guides, job aids, and learning resources.
  • Coordinate live, virtual, and self-paced training sessions.
  • Help ensure training content is relevant to employees' responsibilities and organizational programs.
  • Support leadership in developing required and recommended training pathways for each position.

New Employee & Volunteer Onboarding

  • Support the development and maintenance of the organization's onboarding program.
  • Coordinate onboarding training for new employees, interns, and volunteers.
  • Ensure new team members receive required organizational policies, procedures, systems training, and role-specific learning materials.
  • Maintain onboarding checklists and completion records.
  • Coordinate onboarding sessions and follow-up activities.
  • Work with supervisors to ensure new team members understand their responsibilities, reporting structure, communication expectations, and organizational systems.

Training Compliance & Records

  • Maintain accurate training records for employees, volunteers, interns, and other applicable team members.
  • Monitor required training completion and notify supervisors and leadership of outstanding requirements.
  • Assist with establishing training requirements based on organizational policies, program requirements, contracts, funding requirements, and applicable laws or regulations.
  • Maintain documentation of certificates, completion records, assessments, and continuing education.
  • Assist with preparing training documentation for audits, grant reporting, organizational reviews, and internal compliance purposes.
  • Help establish standardized training documentation and retention procedures.

Learning Management & Technology

  • Assist with administration of the organization's learning and development platforms.
  • Help maintain training courses, learning modules, resources, assessments, and completion records.
  • Support staff and volunteers with accessing assigned training.
  • Evaluate available learning platforms and resources for cost, accessibility, functionality, and organizational fit.
  • Help identify opportunities to use technology to improve training delivery, tracking, and reporting.

Professional Development

  • Help establish professional development opportunities for team members at different stages of their organizational involvement.
  • Research webinars, conferences, workshops, certifications, continuing education, and other development opportunities.
  • Maintain a centralized professional development resource library.
  • Assist supervisors and program leaders in identifying development opportunities related to their teams' responsibilities.
  • Encourage employees and volunteers to establish professional development goals.
  • Help develop career and leadership development opportunities within the organization.

Training Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and administer training evaluations and participant feedback surveys.
  • Track training participation, completion, and feedback.
  • Review training outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Make recommendations to leadership regarding training needs, gaps, and opportunities.
  • Assist with measuring the effectiveness of training programs.
  • Apply continuous improvement principles to organizational learning processes.
  • Help identify recurring performance or knowledge gaps that may be addressed through training.

Organizational Development

  • Support leadership initiatives designed to strengthen employee and volunteer knowledge and performance.
  • Assist in developing leadership-development opportunities for emerging organizational leaders.
  • Support cross-training initiatives to improve organizational continuity.
  • Help create standardized learning resources for organizational programs and departments.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources/People Operations, program leadership, and administration on learning initiatives.
  • Participate in organizational meetings and planning activities as requested.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Psychology, Social Work, Communications, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Previous experience in training, employee development, human resources, education, nonprofit administration, organizational development, or a related field.
  • Experience developing or coordinating training programs.
  • Experience using learning management systems or online training platforms.
  • Experience working with volunteers or nonprofit organizations is preferred.
  • Experience creating presentations, training guides, job aids, or other educational materials is a plus.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles is preferred.
  • HR, training, instructional design, project management, or related certifications are a plus but not required.
