Learning & Development Officer

Crown | Roundwood, County Wicklow, Ireland | Hybrid | Full-Time | Permanent

Build Your Career with Crown

Crown is Europe’s trusted full building envelope contractor, delivering specialist roofing, cladding and façade solutions across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe.

We partner with some of the world’s leading organisations across hyperscale data centres, life sciences, critical infrastructure and advanced manufacturing.

You shape progress. We protect it.

We’re looking for a proactive and organised Learning & Development Officer to take ownership of the day-to-day L&D function across Crown. This is an opportunity to make a real impact by helping our people develop their skills, build their capabilities and progress their careers as our business continues to grow.

Working closely with the HR Manager, COO and managers across the business, you’ll identify development needs, create practical learning plans and coordinate training initiatives that support both individual growth and Crown’s wider business objectives.

Based at our Roundwood headquarters, this is a hybrid role with regular travel to Crown’s project sites across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe. You’ll work directly with teams on-site to roll out development plans, coordinate training and ensure our people have the skills, knowledge and qualifications they need to succeed.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Drive Learning & Development: Identify skills gaps, work with managers to establish development priorities and turn these into practical learning plans.
  • Implement Development Plans: Visit project sites to engage with teams, roll out agreed development plans and support the delivery of learning initiatives across our projects.
  • Plan for Growth: Develop an annual L&D plan and training calendar aligned with business needs, including structured learning pathways and early-career development programmes.
  • Coordinate Training: Organise internal and external training, manage bookings and logistics, and liaise with training providers, colleges and professional bodies.
  • Manage Training & Compliance: Maintain accurate training records, monitor certification expiry dates and coordinate mandatory training and renewals across our workforce.
  • Track Progress & Results: Monitor development plans, training completion, costs and feedback, using Excel and HR systems to report on activity and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with Managers: Build strong relationships with managers across our projects and offices, ensuring development needs are identified and agreed actions are followed through.
  • Support Employee Development: Contribute to onboarding, inductions, graduate and apprenticeship programmes, and other initiatives that help our people build their careers.
  • Continuously Improve: Research new learning solutions, evaluate training effectiveness and introduce initiatives that support the ongoing development of our people.

What You’ll Bring

  • Previous experience in Learning & Development, Training, HR or a similar role.
  • Experience identifying learning needs and supporting the development of training or development plans.
  • Experience coordinating training activities, learning initiatives or employee development programmes.
  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to take ownership and make recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with managers, employees and external providers.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and confidence using HR systems, learning management systems or similar platforms.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the wider HR team.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to project sites across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe, including occasional overnight stays, to support the implementation of development plans and training initiatives.

Why Join Crown?

At Crown, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to how our people learn, develop and progress.

  • Make an Impact: Take ownership of an important function and help shape the future of L&D across a growing international business.
  • Work Collaboratively: Partner with managers and leaders across different teams, projects and countries.
  • Develop Your Career: Build your experience in a varied role with scope to introduce ideas, take initiative and improve existing processes.
  • Be Part of Our Growth: Support the development of our people as Crown continues to expand across Ireland and Europe.
