Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | The opportunity
This is an initial part-time, 6- month fixed term opportunity with the option of hybrid and/or remote working arrangements.
Reporting to the Group Director - Quality Assurance & Products, you will play a key role in developing engaging course content and robust assessments that meet NZQA and programme accreditation requirements. You'll collaborate with subject matter experts, academic leaders and industry stakeholders to create high-quality digital learning experiences that support student success.
This role requires strong cultural capability and a genuine understanding of Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, with a commitment to embedding inclusive and culturally responsive practices into learning design.
Key Responsibilities
To be successful in this position, you should have minimum of 3 years of experience in the NZ tertiary sector and have demonstrated the ability to develop and design tertiary level qualifications from Level 2 – Level 8.

- Design and develop engaging online course materials aligned to approved programmes
- Create formative and summative assessments that meet accreditation and moderation requirements
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and Heads of School on programme rollouts
- Utilise LMS tools and digital technologies to enhance learner engagement
- Ensure all materials meet quality standards, delivery timelines and compliance requirements
- Gather and incorporate industry feedback into learning content
- Provide regular progress updates and reports to ELT
- Support NZSEG's Māori and Pasifika strategies and wider kaupapa
To be successful in this position, you should have minimum of 3 years of experience in the NZ tertiary sector and have demonstrated the ability to develop and design tertiary level qualifications from Level 2 – Level 8.
You Will Bring
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- Minimum 3+ years' experience in online course and assessment development
- Have good knowledge of the requirement of different regulatory bodies in NZ. This includes (but not limited to) NZQA, IQAF, ISB, TEC, Immigration NZ and Ministry of Education, plus all such regulatory bodies
- Ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements
- Strong digital literacy across various LMS platforms, Microsoft 365, Teams and online learning technologies
- Experience developing educational content within the NZ tertiary education sector
- Excellent written communication and attention to detail
- Strong time management, organisation and stakeholder engagement skills
- A creative, curious and continuous improvement mindset
- Sound understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive educational practice
