Legal Administrative Assistant
Off1001OfkuOffit Kurman is seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant to support our Commercial Litigation team in New York City. This hybrid position provides administrative and litigation support to multiple attorneys, helping manage deadlines, prepare legal documents, and deliver exceptional client service.
The ideal candidate has a litigation support background, strong organizational skills, and a proactive approach to anticipating attorney and client needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to multiple litigation attorneys, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings and court appearances, and tracking case deadlines.
- Draft, format, proofread, and finalize correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents under attorney supervision.
- Prepare and file documents with courts and relevant agencies, ensuring compliance with applicable procedures and filing requirements.
- Organize and maintain electronic and paper client files, pleading binders, and case materials.
- Assist with case management and trial preparation, including organizing documents and coordinating deadlines.
- Coordinate new client and matter intake, ensuring required documentation is completed and submitted promptly.
- Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and internal teams.
- Conduct research as directed by attorneys and stay current on relevant court procedures.
- Process expense reports, credit card reconciliations, and reimbursement requests.
- Provide backup reception and administrative support as needed while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of legal administrative support experience, including litigation experience, required; commercial litigation experience preferred.
- Familiarity with litigation processes, court filing requirements, and deadline management; experience supporting New York litigation matters preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with document management systems and attorney time entry software.
- Strong document production, formatting, and proofreading skills, with excellent grammar and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize competing assignments, meet deadlines, and anticipate the needs of multiple attorneys.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a commitment to responsive client service.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule based in our New York City office.
