JOB SUMMARY
Performs legal and operational analysis for the Legal Department, including legal research, drafting, discovery, legal technology administration, data reporting and analytics, process improvement and other similar tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts legal research and analysis of statutes, case law, agency orders, and other related matters, exercising discretion and independent judgment.
- Leads or supports Legal Operations initiatives involving legal technology, data reporting and analytics, workflow optimization, process improvement, and other department-wide operational projects.
Implements, administers, and continuously improves Legal Department technologies and business processes, including system configuration, training, issue resolution, and ongoing optimization.
Develops reports, metrics, dashboards, and analyses to support departmental planning, resource allocation, matter management, and operational decision-making.
- Drafts memoranda and correspondence, demonstrating advanced knowledge and judgment.
- Assists attorneys with case and matter preparation, including the drafting of agreements, filings, pleadings, comments, or other submissions to legal tribunals, courts of law, regulatory bodies, or other organizations, requiring specialized knowledge and judgment.
- Monitors various dockets and work schedules to keep legal department informed of schedules, ensuring compliance and efficient operations.
- Manages discovery projects for process completion, quality control and cost efficiency, including coordinating the collection and analysis of materials for discovery responses and drafting preliminary responses, demonstrating advanced organizational and analytical skills.
- Performs other job-related duties and special projects, as required.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
Minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
Ability to effectively conduct research related to performance of job duties.
Possess sound analytical problem-solving and documentation skills.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors and individuals inside and outside the Company.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to work under minimal supervision.
Ability to handle multiple projects with conflicting priorities.
Ability to effectively utilize Westlaw, Microsoft Office, NetDocuments and similar programs.
