We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Assistant with U.S. personal injury litigation experience to support our personal injury practice on a remote, independent contractor basis. This role is ideal for a candidate based outside the U.S. who has prior experience supporting U.S. personal injury attorneys and is comfortable working overlapping hours with a U.S.-based team.

This is a client-facing position that provides direct support to attorneys and assists with the day-to-day management of personal injury litigation cases. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, responsive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven legal environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and case support to attorneys handling personal injury matters.
  • Support cases through active litigation.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, discovery, and case materials.
  • Assist with discovery and track discovery requests and responses.
  • Monitor case deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and other important dates.
  • Maintain accurate and organized electronic case files.
  • Communicate professionally with clients regarding case-related matters.
  • Communicate with attorneys, clients, insurance companies, medical providers, opposing counsel, and other parties as needed.
  • Assist attorneys with preparation for depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial.
  • Review case information and ensure required documentation is obtained and properly maintained.
  • Accurately enter and update case information in the firm's case management system.
  • Follow established case-management procedures and workflows.
  • Handle confidential client and case information appropriately.
  • Perform other legal support duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience working remotely for a U.S.-based law firm is required.
  • Previous experience working on U.S. personal injury cases is required.
  • Personal injury litigation experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting attorneys with active U.S. litigation matters.
  • Experience with U.S. plaintiff personal injury law.
  • Experience handling motor vehicle accident cases.
  • Experience with U.S. insurance claims and personal injury documentation.
  • Experience assisting with discovery, depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial preparation.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. personal injury litigation procedures and terminology.
  • Familiarity with pleadings, discovery, depositions, hearings, mediations, and litigation deadlines.
  • Experience communicating professionally with U.S.-based clients, attorneys, insurance companies, medical providers, and opposing counsel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Word.
  • Ability to use legal case management systems and other legal technology.
  • Business-fluent English and Spanish.
  • Available during U.S. working hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Filevine or another legal case management system.
  • Continuing education and professional development opportunities.
