About the Role
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented **Legal Associate (J.D. Preferred)** to join our growing appellate law practice.
This role is ideal for candidates who hold a **J.D. (including an international law degree)** and are passionate about **legal research, legal analysis, and legal writing**. Working directly with the supervising attorney, you will review complex records, identify key facts and legal issues, conduct legal research, and prepare first-draft legal memoranda for attorney review.
This is not a traditional administrative legal support role. Instead, it is an opportunity to develop advanced legal writing and analytical skills through direct mentorship from an experienced appellate attorney. Key Responsibilities
Legal Analysis
* Review administrative records, medical records, and supporting documentation.
* Identify key facts, legal issues, procedural errors, and relevant evidence.
* Analyze complex records and organize findings into clear, logical legal analyses.
* Evaluate evidence and identify issues that may strengthen legal arguments.
Legal Research & Writing
* Prepare first-draft legal memoranda (typically around 10 pages) for attorney review.
* Conduct legal research using statutes, regulations, case law, and administrative authority.
* Draft clear, persuasive, and well-supported legal analyses.
* Revise memoranda based on attorney feedback and guidance.
Attorney Support
* Organize case materials and supporting documentation for legal analysis.
* Assist in developing legal theories and identifying relevant authorities.
* Ensure written work is accurate, well-organized, and completed within established deadlines.
Professional Development
* Work closely with the supervising attorney throughout the drafting process.
* Receive ongoing mentorship to strengthen legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
* Continuously develop your understanding of appellate advocacy and persuasive legal writing.
Qualifications
* J.D. required or strongly preferred** (U.S. or International Law Degree).
* Excellent legal research, analytical, and legal writing skills.
* Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
* Exceptional written and verbal English communication.
* Ability to review complex factual records and synthesize them into persuasive legal analyses.
* Comfortable receiving mentorship, constructive feedback, and ongoing professional development.
