Legal Associate (J.D. Preferred)

💻 Remote

💰 Pay: $9.50/hour

⏰ Schedule: Full-Time | U.S. Business Hours (Eastern Time)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented **Legal Associate (J.D. Preferred)** to join our growing appellate law practice.

This role is ideal for candidates who hold a **J.D. (including an international law degree)** and are passionate about **legal research, legal analysis, and legal writing**. Working directly with the supervising attorney, you will review complex records, identify key facts and legal issues, conduct legal research, and prepare first-draft legal memoranda for attorney review.

This is not a traditional administrative legal support role. Instead, it is an opportunity to develop advanced legal writing and analytical skills through direct mentorship from an experienced appellate attorney. If you enjoy solving legal problems, analyzing records, and crafting persuasive legal arguments, this is an excellent opportunity to grow your legal career.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Analysis

* Review administrative records, medical records, and supporting documentation.

* Identify key facts, legal issues, procedural errors, and relevant evidence.

* Analyze complex records and organize findings into clear, logical legal analyses.

* Evaluate evidence and identify issues that may strengthen legal arguments.

Legal Research & Writing

* Prepare first-draft legal memoranda (typically around 10 pages) for attorney review.

* Conduct legal research using statutes, regulations, case law, and administrative authority.

* Draft clear, persuasive, and well-supported legal analyses.

* Revise memoranda based on attorney feedback and guidance.

Attorney Support

* Organize case materials and supporting documentation for legal analysis.

* Assist in developing legal theories and identifying relevant authorities.

* Ensure written work is accurate, well-organized, and completed within established deadlines.

Professional Development

* Work closely with the supervising attorney throughout the drafting process.

* Receive ongoing mentorship to strengthen legal research, writing, and analytical skills.

* Continuously develop your understanding of appellate advocacy and persuasive legal writing.

Qualifications

* J.D. required or strongly preferred** (U.S. or International Law Degree).

* Excellent legal research, analytical, and legal writing skills.

* Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

* Exceptional written and verbal English communication.

* Ability to review complex factual records and synthesize them into persuasive legal analyses.

* Comfortable receiving mentorship, constructive feedback, and ongoing professional development.

## Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly preferred:

* Appellate Law

* Veterans Disability Law

* Social Security Disability

* Personal Injury

* Insurance Defense

* Civil Litigation

* Medical Records Review

* Other records-intensive legal practice areas

## Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate:

* Enjoys legal research, legal analysis, and persuasive legal writing.

* Has a passion for reading, analyzing, and solving complex legal issues.

* Produces clear, organized, and well-reasoned legal memoranda.

* Is intellectually curious and eager to develop as a legal writer.

* Thrives under mentorship and values continuous learning.

* Wants to build a long-term career focused on substantive legal work rather than administrative support.

## Requirements

* Reliable high-speed internet connection.

* Personal computer capable of handling document review and legal research.

* Quiet, professional work environment.

* Available to work full-time during U.S. business hours (Eastern Time).
