Elevate Patient Financial Solutions has an exciting career opportunity available as a Legal & Compliance Support Specialist. This position will be remote based. The Full Time schedule for this role will be 8 AM-5 PM, Monday-Friday with flexibility as needed. Job Summary The Legal & Compliance Support Specialist provides comprehensive administrative, operational, and paralegal support to the Legal and Compliance Department. This role is responsible for organizing and maintaining legal files and records, managing attorneys’ calendars, and performing a range of administrative and secretarial duties. The specialist will conduct some legal and regulatory research, monitor and track changes in applicable laws across multiple jurisdictions, and assist with compliance initiatives. The position also supports coordination with outside counsel, facilitates document management and retention processes—including oversight of systems such as Laserfiche—and helps ensure the efficient operation of the legal function. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing routine administrative tasks with more substantive legal and compliance-related responsibilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Organize, maintain, and manage legal, compliance, and regulatory files (physical and electronic), ensuring strict adherence to confidentiality, HIPAA requirements, and data security standards. Administer and support the company’s document management and retention program, including implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the Laserfiche system in accordance with healthcare-specific retention requirements. Manage legal department calendars, including scheduling meetings, coordinating priorities, and tracking key regulatory and compliance deadlines. Provide administrative and secretarial support to the Legal and Compliance Department, including preparing correspondence, compliance reports, and presentations for internal leadership and external stakeholders. Conduct legal and regulatory research related to healthcare revenue cycle management, including CMS rules, Medicare/Medicaid billing requirements, payer policies, and state-specific healthcare regulations. Monitor, track, and summarize changes in federal and state healthcare laws and regulations, including but not limited to HIPAA, HITECH, FCA (False Claims Act), Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, and payer billing requirements. Assist with the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of compliance programs specific to revenue cycle operations, including billing, coding, collections, and reimbursement practices. Support internal compliance audits and regulatory adherence; assist in documenting findings and corrective action plans. Coordinate with outside counsel on healthcare regulatory matters, audits, investigations, and litigation, including organizing case materials and maintaining matter tracking systems. Assist in litigation and claims management, including supporting matters related to employment claims, billing disputes, payer audits, recoupments, and government inquiries. Assist with drafting, reviewing, and formatting contracts and agreements relevant to RCM operations, including business associate agreements (BAAs), vendor agreements, and payer contracts. Maintain and update logs and tracking systems for legal matters, compliance activities, audits, regulatory filings, and contract management. Support HIPAA compliance efforts, including documentation, training coordination, and incident tracking (e.g., breaches or potential breaches). Collaborate with operations, billing, and compliance teams to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Assist in preparing materials for compliance committees, board reporting, and senior leadership updates. Perform special projects and other duties as assigned to support the Legal and Compliance Department and evolving regulatory requirements within the healthcare RCM space. Perform administrative duties of a highly responsible and confidential nature. Receive service of process from CT Corporation and timely distribute to GC and other appropriate Company personnel. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities. 3-5 years of prior experience in legal administration or paralegal activities. 3-5 years of prior experience supporting multiple executives preferred. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interface well with all departments within the company and to represent the Legal Department in a highly professional manner. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and external contacts with the organization. Possess a high degree of proficiency with MS Office products including Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. Must be able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Ability to manage sensitive material concerning the organization and the executive's role within the organization. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Exceptional organizational skills required. Ability to meet designated deadlines is also a critical qualification.
