Overview About the role We are looking for a Privacy Counsel to join our global legal team supporting the EMEA business. This is a hands-on operationally focused role delivering pragmatic advice on privacy and data protection across the region. You will play a key role in delivering the core privacy operations across the region, working closely with product, engineering, security, and commercial teams. What you’ll do Advise on compliance with GDPR and broader EMEA data protection laws Support key privacy activities including data mapping, data retention, DPIAs/PIAs, and international data transfers (including SCCs) Draft, review, and negotiate DPAs and privacy clauses in customer and vendor agreements Embed privacy by design into products and business processes in collaboration with cross-functional teams Conduct privacy risk assessments and support data incident assessment and remediation Manage and coordinate data subject requests (DSARs) and advise on e-privacy and marketing compliance Monitor legal developments and deliver practical guidance and training to stakeholders Support M&A and post-acquisition integration from a privacy perspective Represent the company in privacy matters requiring EMEA presence, including customer escalations and engagement with EU data protection authorities What we’re looking for 2-4 years of post-qualification experience in privacy/data protection law Strong expertise in GDPR and EMEA privacy frameworks Experience advising in a multi-jurisdictional or global organization You bring hands-on experience in: DPIAs/PIAs and privacy risk assessments DSARs and data subject rights Data retention and lifecycle queries International data transfers (e.g. SCCs) Handling or supporting data security incidents And you are: Pragmatic and business-oriented in your advice Comfortable working in a fast-paced SaaS or tech environment Able to collaborate across functions and regions Self-driven, with the ability to manage workload independently Nice to have IAPP certification (e.g. CIPP/E, CIPM, AIGP) Interest in or familiarity with AI governance and emerging EU AI regulation — this is not an AI-focused role, but you may occasionally support AI-related privacy questions as they arise.
