We are seeking a talented and business-minded Legal Counsel based in Monterrey, Mexico to join our global legal team. This role will serve as the primary legal resource for commercial contracting globally and for and employment law matters in Mexico, and will partner closely with business leaders and Human Resources to support the organization's strategic objectives.
The ideal candidate is an experienced attorney who combines strong technical legal expertise with practical business judgment. This individual will negotiate and draft a wide variety of commercial agreements, advise on employment matters, manage legal risk, and collaborate with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions.
The Legal Counsel will report directly to the Chief Legal & Administrative Officer. This role will be hybrid, based in our Monterrey, Mexico office.

Key Responsabilities.

1. Commercial Contracts.

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial agreements, including:
    • Customer and vendor agreements.

    • Master Services Agreements (MSAs).
    • Statements of Work (SOWs).
    • SaaS and software licensing agreements.
    • Professional services agreements.
    • Confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements.
    • Procurement and purchasing contracts.
    • Consulting and independent contractor agreements.
    • Strategic partnership agreements.
  • Provide practical, risk-based legal advice to internal stakeholders during contract negotiations.
  • Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and negotiation guidelines to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Support contract lifecycle management and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain legal templates, policies, and knowledge resources.

2. Employment Law.

  • Advise Human Resources and business leaders on employment law matters in Mexico, including:
    • Hiring and onboarding.
    • Employment agreements.
    • Compensation and benefits.
    • Performance management.
    • Employee discipline.
    • Workplace investigations.
    • Terminations and redundancies.
    • Labor inspections.
    • Leave and accommodations.
    • Employee complaints.
    • Workplace policies.
  • Provide legal guidance on compliance with Mexican Federal Labor Law (Ley Federal del Trabajo) and other applicable labor relations.
  • Partner with HR to minimize employment-related legal risk while supporting practical business solutions.
  • Assist with sensitive employee relations matters while balancing legal compliance and business objectives.
  • Monitor developments in employment law and recommend policy and process updates.

3. Cross-Functional Support.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor who balances legal risk with business priorities.
  • Partner with legal colleagues across multiple jurisdictions to ensure consistency in legal advice and contracting practices.
  • Support corporate governance and legal entity management for the company's Mexican operations.
  • Advise on commercial, privacy, consumer protection, and regulatory matters applicable to business operations in Mexico.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel on litigation, regulatory inquiries, labor disputes, and corporate filings.
  • Assist with compliance training and internal investigations.
  • Support implementation of global legal and compliance initiatives within Mexico.

WHO YOU ARE (Qualifications)

1. Experience.

  • Law degree (Licenciatura en Derecho) from an accredited university.
  • Licensed attorney in Mexico with the ability to practice law in one or more Mexican jurisdictions.
  • 5+ years of post-qualification experience in commercial and employment law.
  • Experience in an in-house legal department or a nationally recognized law firm.
  • Strong experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
  • Demonstrated experience advising on employment law and employee relations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to independently manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
