Role Description The Level Designer – Casual Games (Unity) is a remote contract role responsible for designing and implementing fun, intuitive levels for casual mobile and console games. Day-to-day tasks include creating level layouts, balancing difficulty and progression, and building interactive scenarios that support the game’s core mechanics. The role involves working closely with game designers, artists, and developers to prototype levels in Unity, iterate based on playtesting data, and ensure consistent pacing and flow. The Level Designer will document level designs, maintain design standards across the game, and collaborate in feedback sessions to refine user experience and retention. Qualifications
Strong Level Design skills with experience creating engaging, well-paced levels for casual games.
Proficiency in Game Design principles, including core loops, progression, and player feedback systems.
Hands-on Game Development experience, preferably using Unity or similar engines for 2D/3D casual titles.
Experience designing for Console platforms, understanding controller input, performance, and certification considerations.
Experience designing for Mobile Games, including touch controls, session length, and free-to-play friendly level structures.
Ability to translate design concepts into playable prototypes and iterate quickly based on testing and analytics.
Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional remote teams.
Attention to detail, with the ability to balance challenge and accessibility for a broad player base.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, Perforce) and modern collaborative workflows.
Prior shipped game or portfolio demonstrating level design work; professional experience in casual games is a plus.
