The Opportunity Job Title: Insolvency Counsellor (Licensed) Location: Remote (Evenings and Weekends) Reports To: Manager, Treasury Services Employment Type: Full-Time What You’ll Do Summary The Licensed Insolvency Counsellor supports clients in their financial recovery by delivering mandatory counselling sessions in accordance with the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA) and OSB Directive 1R8. Through structured phone and video sessions, you will guide clients on money management, credit rebuilding, and long-term financial stability. This role requires strict adherence to regulatory standards, strong documentation practices, and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload while delivering a consistent, empathetic client experience. Key Accountabilities Insolvency Counselling • Deliver BIA-mandated counselling sessions (first and second sessions) in full compliance with OSB requirements • Build trust and rapport with clients through professional, empathetic communication • Provide structured guidance on budgeting, financial behaviours, and credit rebuilding • Assess client needs and provide referrals to external resources when appropriate • Maintain a consistent daily caseload of counselling sessions • Schedule and manage follow-up sessions within required timelines • Complete all required e-filing and documentation accurately and on time Compliance & Documentation • Ensure full compliance with the BIA, OSB Directive 1R8, and CAIRP standards • Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready client records • Meet documentation accuracy and timeliness expectations (e.g., e-filing within 24–48 hours) • Complete required professional development hours to maintain counsellor licensing Collaboration & Client Support • Work closely with Financial Wellness Partners, Licensed Insolvency Trustees, and internal teams • Escalate complex cases or client concerns as required • Contribute to a consistent, compliant, and client-focused counselling experience across all regions served Ideal Candidate Qualifications Licensing (Mandatory) • Active Insolvency Counsellor designation in good standing under OSB requirements • Meets all requirements under OSB Directive 1R8, including ongoing continuing education Experience • Proven experience delivering insolvency counselling sessions within a Licensed Insolvency Trustee environment • Experience managing high-volume client interactions in a structured, compliance-driven setting Functional Competencies • Strong knowledge of BIA counselling requirements and financial rehabilitation principles • Excellent communication and active listening skills • Ability to deliver structured sessions with empathy and professionalism • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in documentation • Strong time management and ability to manage a full counselling schedule • Comfortable using CRM systems and e-filing platforms • Collaborative and accountable mindset Why Should You Apply?
