As a Licensing Coordinator, you’ll help bring some of the most recognizable magazine brands to life through products, partnerships, marketing, and e-commerce. You’ll play a hands-on role in keeping licensing operations organized, protecting valuable intellectual property, and helping turn brand recognition into meaningful consumer experiences.
About Hearst Magazines (Why Us?)
Hearst Magazines’ portfolio of more than 30 iconic brands in the U.S.—including Cosmopolitan, ELLE, Esquire, Good Housekeeping, Harper’s BAZAAR, and Popular Mechanics—inspires, entertains, and builds new and bold experiences for an engaged and growing audience across digital, video, social and print, reaching nearly 130 million readers and site visitors each month. With sophisticated content creation, cutting-edge technology, and industry-leading data capabilities, we make media and products that move people across all platforms. We are a global media company that publishes nearly 200 magazine editions and 175 websites around the world—and together, we are shaping what’s next.
Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)
- Maintain licensing CRM systems, tracking tools, and dashboards to support accurate and efficient accolade licensing operations.
- Review and proofread licensing contracts, helping ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Coordinate product submissions and support the product approval process from submission through final approval.
- Manage licensing operations meetings and workflows, helping keep activities moving smoothly from contract execution through royalty reporting.
- Partner with Legal on intellectual property protection initiatives, including product and accolade infringement, Amazon Brand Registration, and URL management.
- Track marketing campaigns across print, digital, social, and newsletters, while helping ensure licensing opportunities are effectively promoted.
- Support editorial and e-commerce initiatives by securing editorial mentions, updating best-seller lists, managing affiliate reports, and maintaining e-commerce tracking.
- Develop brand materials, presentations, and pitch decks; coordinate with the Hearst Research team to gather data that supports sales efforts and business development.
Qualifications (What We’re Looking For)
- 2+ years of experience in project management, sales, merchandising, marketing, brand management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing needs and keep multiple projects moving in a fast-paced environment.
- A detail-oriented, data-driven approach with strong analytical, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with a collaborative, customer-service mindset.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office; experience with Monday.com is a plus.
- Awareness of consumer product trends and strong product sensibility, with an ability to understand how brands translate into compelling consumer products.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional partners, including Legal, Research, editorial, marketing, and licensing stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a hybrid capacity, with 4 days per week in the Hearst Magazines NYC office.
Benefits (What We Offer)
