About Sequencing:
Sequencing is the world’s largest direct-to-consumer whole genome sequencing platform, helping define the future of AI-powered personalized health.
We’re a profitable, venture-backed, fully remote company building products that turn clinical-grade whole genome sequencing into meaningful, personalized insights. Through AI and a rapidly expanding ecosystem of genomic applications, we help people better understand their health and future.
The human genome is one of the most valuable and underutilized resources in the world. Our mission is to transform it into a lifelong source of personalized guidance – and build the trusted home for every genome on Earth.
Join us in helping build the interface between humanity and its DNA!
The Opportunity
Our customers buy a DNA kit, activate it, wait for results, and then opt into a subscription. The post-purchase experience is where we win or lose long-term customers, and you will own this part of the journey. You’ll be the first dedicated owner of lifecycle and retention. You’ll create the playbook and build the foundation. Your first-year goals:
Build a lifecycle program that’s robust across email, SMS, push, and in-product messaging, from onboarding through win-back and referral.
Find and fix where subscribers disengage and cancel. Diagnose why, then build the programs that keep customers getting value.
You’ll report to the Head of Marketing & Growth and work directly with our engineers and data. You’ll define what needs to be tracked, built, and tested, and write the requirements yourself.
What You'll Own
Own the full customer lifecycle strategy and execution: onboarding, kit activation, results delivery, feature adoption, subscription engagement, retention, win-back, and referral
Dig into subscription and behavioral data to find where customers drop off and why, then turn those findings into programs
Write, build, launch, and optimize automated campaigns yourself in our lifecycle platform
Write technical requirements and tracking specs for engineers, including events, properties, data flows, and in-product messaging, and see them through to launch
Own our lifecycle stack and data foundation (Blueshift, Segment) so segmentation, triggers, and dynamic content work reliably
Design and run rigorous experiments, with clear hypotheses and success metrics, across messaging, offers, timing, channels, and audiences
Turn complex genetic and health concepts into clear, motivating messages for non-expert customers
Use AI daily to move faster on ideation, drafting, QA, and analysis
Go beyond topline reporting to understand why performance changed and decide what to do next
Who You Are
6+ years in lifecycle, CRM, or retention marketing at direct-to-consumer subscription companies. You’ve owned recurring revenue and retention, not just email sends.
You’ve diagnosed and fixed a retention cliff before. You can walk us through the data, the root cause, what you changed, and the impact on churn or LTV.
You’ve worked at an early-stage company (seed through Series B, or a small team where you owned lifecycle end to end), where you built programs from scratch, wore many hats, and had no one to hand work off to
You can write requirements engineers actually use, such as event schemas, tracking specs, and clear tickets, because you’ve been the one defining the work without a product manager
Hands-on expertise in a lifecycle platform (Blueshift, Braze, Iterable, Klaviyo, or similar) and a CDP such as Segment
Comfortable in the data: SQL or similar for pulling your own cohorts and retention analyses, plus dashboards and experiment analysis
Strong writing, with a portfolio showing lifecycle campaigns and the results they drove
Experience translating technical or scientific content for a general audience
You use AI tools as a daily co-pilot
You'll Thrive Here If
You love building from scratch and want the satisfaction of seeing your work directly move revenue and retention
You like being hands-on, from pulling your own data to writing your own specs to launching your own campaigns
You get energy from solving a retention puzzle end to end, from the first data dive to the experiment that proves the fix
You’re excited by the challenge of making DNA insights clear, personal, and useful to everyday people
You’re comfortable with the ambiguity and pace of an early-stage company, and you see it as an opportunity to shape the function
Why Sequencing?
For decades, the human genome has been one of the world’s richest sources of health information—but most people have never been able to truly understand or use it.
We’re changing that.
At Sequencing, we’re transforming billions of genetic variants, decades of scientific research, and constantly evolving genomic knowledge into technology people can interact with naturally and trust when making decisions about their health.
This isn’t about building another health application. It’s about creating an entirely new category of technology that brings together bioinformatics, genetics, and consumer health to improve and extend millions of lives.
Your work won’t just help build Sequencing—it will help redefine how people understand themselves through their DNA for decades to come.
