Position Highlights

At the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS), we work to investigate ideas, transform social conditions, and tell unheard stories. We prepare students, engage in research, and collaborate with community partners to address everyday challenges, be thoughtful problem-solvers, and build solidarity with others across the world. We are rooted in the unique sense of place in our Borderlands region. With more than 30 SBS majors, the College of SBS has a portfolio of competitive and highly ranked graduate programs. Seven of our graduate programs are nationally ranked in the top 25, including top 5 programs in anthropology, geography, political philosophy, and creative nonfiction. With a wide range of subjects to choose from, our students can explore subjects ranging from ancient philosophy to artificial intelligence.

The Department of Linguistics is seeking one or more Limited-Term Adjunct Lecturers to teach online, graduate-level courses through the Arizona Online campus for the industry-oriented professional Master of Science (M.S.) in Human Language Technologies (HLT) program.

Courses are full 3-unit courses taught in an intensive seven-week format. The courses for the appointment(s) are:

  • LING 696G – Topics in Computational Linguistics: Spring 2027, 7W1 session
  • LING 503 – Foundations of Syntactic Theory: Summer 2027

Candidates working anywhere in the U.S. may be considered for a remote assignment. If you are selected for this position and are employed to work remotely from outside of Arizona, your overtime exemption status will depend on the laws of the state where you perform your work. For employees working outside of Arizona, you may be hired as an hourly employee in accordance with state laws, and your position title would be “Part-Time Faculty” instead of “Limited Term Adjunct” in accordance with university practices. These changes would not affect the position duties as outlined. An hourly rate for this position would be $116.07 per hour.

The application window is anticipated to close November 2, 2026.

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
