LMS Specialist – Platform Evaluation & Testing

About the Opportunity

We’re seeking an LMS Specialist to help an organization evaluate and select a new Learning Management System. You’ll assess shortlisted platforms against business and technical requirements, develop and execute test cases, and turn your findings into clear recommendations that support the selection decision.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with LMS platform analysis, structured testing and requirements-based evaluation, along with a strong understanding of learning technologies and business applications.

Key Responsibilities

LMS Analysis and Selection Support

• Review business and technical requirements to understand the organization’s LMS needs.
• Assess shortlisted platforms against those requirements, identifying capabilities, limitations, gaps and risks.
• Participate in platform reviews and work with vendors to clarify functionality.
• Prepare comparative analyses and evidence-based recommendations to support vendor selection.

Test Planning and Execution

• Develop test plans, test scenarios and detailed test cases for potential LMS platforms.
• Coordinate and execute testing with internal stakeholders, IT teams, CRM teams and vendors.
• Document expected and actual results, issues and stakeholder feedback.
• Analyze findings and explain their implications to technical and non-technical decision-makers.

Technical and Project Support

• Support the import of education data from staging databases into potential LMS platforms.
• Work with project partners to understand and test system functionality and integration requirements.
• Track testing activities, dependencies and competing priorities.
• Identify barriers early and escalate issues as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

• Approximately 3–5 years of relevant experience supporting business applications.
• Demonstrated experience analyzing LMS platforms and supporting platform evaluation or selection.
• Hands-on experience developing and executing LMS test plans and test cases.
• Experience assessing system options against business requirements and providing recommendations.
• Experience with CRM applications and learning technologies.
• Strong understanding of LMS features and functionality.
• Understanding of relational databases and experience with Microsoft SQL.
• Knowledge of web technologies, including HTML/XHTML, CSS and Web Services.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, stakeholder collaboration and customer service skills.
• Undergraduate degree in Database Administration, Computer Science, Web Development or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Key Deliverables

• LMS test plan and test cases.
• Completed test cases with documented results.
• Analysis of testing feedback, functionality gaps and risks.
• Final comparative analysis and recommendations to support LMS selection.
