As a Logistics Engineer at GEODIS, you are responsible for the design, optimization, and implementation of logistics processes within various projects. You will work on new customer implementations, re-engineering of existing customer solutions, and migrations to new systems. You act as a subject matter expert for process and system design in warehousing and value-added services, bridging to transport, customs, IT, and facility departments. You will work with both (semi-)automated and traditional logistics concepts at all GEODIS CL sites in the Netherlands.
Tasks & Responsibilities
1. Structure & Quality
Work according to the GEODIS engineering methodology and contribute to its continuous improvement.
Structure and plan your activities within project deadlines.
Verify your own work and have it checked by colleagues.
Initiate and implement improvement proposals.
Delegate tasks to other departments and follow up on progress.
2. Data Analysis
Determine and request the data required for process design.
Perform in-depth analysis of data sets.
Identify key process factors.
Plan capacity, including peak and off-peak periods (annual, monthly, weekly).
Document and substantiate assumptions.
3. Process Design & System Solution
Evaluate existing or predefined designs and related financial aspects.
Develop efficient and effective alternatives and consult with suppliers about options and costs.
Create detailed warehouse layouts, storage configurations, and process flows (both physical and system-related).
Document design choices and rationale.
Develop functional system solutions based on data analysis.
4. Cost Models
Create, update, and validate cost models based on volumes, process steps, and investments.
Translate costs into the desired rate structures.
Validate productivity, investments, indirect costs, and P&L calculations with site management and business control.
Explain cost variances to the commercial team.
5. Presentation
Prepare presentation documents including key data, process design, layouts, organizational charts, investment costs, and assumptions.
Present solutions to internal and external clients.
Record and process feedback after presentations.
6. Implementation
Participate in business requirement workshops with (internal) clients, asking clear and detailed questions.
Develop alternatives and assess whether GEODIS standards suffice or if custom developments are needed.
Detail out processes, prepare functional specifications, and contribute to system setup.
Adjust warehouse layouts and define order specifications; request quotes and place orders.
Calculate costs for additional client requirements.
Define and document test scenarios, prepare training documentation, and deliver training to operations staff.
Prepare data sets for WMS and external orders
Support data conversion and the go-live phase.
7. Aftercare & Continuous Improvement
Evaluate whether intended results have been achieved (measure and analyse).
Determine and implement corrective actions as needed.
Update cost models and documentation where necessary.
8. Quality, Safety & Environment
Comply with GEODIS’s STS-QSE policy and applicable standards (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 22000).
Follow procedures and guidelines as established in the STS QSE network.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent working and thinking level
At least 3 years of relevant work experience in logistics engineering
Detailed knowledge of logistics processes (warehousing and value added services)
Knowledge of integration with transport and customs is an asset
In-depth knowledge of Excel, Visio, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with Power BI and AutoCAD (LT/3D) is an asset
Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and affinity with IT systems
Strong analytical skills, communicative in Dutch and English (a second foreign language is a plus)
Proactive, independent, and persuasive in advising and presenting
Certificate of Conduct (VOG) or willingness to obtain one
