Logistics Operations Specialist

A Day in the Life

As the Logistics Operations Specialist you will be responsible for the Rail, Road & Intermodal and Marine logistics areas, ensuring the seamless integration of supply chain activities and the optimization of logistics operations across the entire LYB I&D organization in Europe. You act as both an operational and technical advisor to the LYB organization while serving as the operational owner for various logistics processes and vendor relationships. You take initiative independently and work cross-functionally to drive value creation, resolve operational issues, and develop effective logistics strategies. Additionally, you plan, schedule, and coordinate logistics activities to ensure smooth and efficient operations, providing guidance to operational staff whenever needed. You continuously identify and promote process improvement opportunities, support departmental training initiatives, and contribute to the design and implementation of procedures and policies. Furthermore, you coordinate the flow of information, manage market and customer intelligence, and maintain logistics network data to support decision-making. Finally, you provide tactical logistics support to Supply Chain team members and business partners, helping to enhance operational performance and business outcomes.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

• Set-up (internal and external) performance review metrics and support efforts to achieve and maintain operational excellence, internally and with logistics vendors. Advance multiple initiatives to drive operational improvements and manage KPIs of logistics vendors.
• Serve as interface among the whole LYB organization to ensure the coordination of the logistics activities related to transport, survey and terminals.
• Share and advice operational knowledge and cooperate closely with all external vendors and internal clients.
• Instruct vendors and internal clients on operational requirements.
• Operate and instruct suppliers in accordance with transport regulations, national and international laws.
• Investigate & recommend QN/QI and QP's - Quality Notifications (complaints) from customers and (internal) stakeholders.
• Give advice on product off-specification situations (at plants, terminals and customers).
• Influences business and departmental results with quantitative and qualitative data.
• Operate with a high degree of knowledge regarding distribution systems and industry trends. Maintain advanced knowledge of the Enterprise system support tools and assists customers and vendors in full utilization of system tools.
• Assist in supporting and coaching the operational Supply Chain staff.

You Bring This Value

• University / college degree preferred or equivalent experience
• 3 - 5 years experience in a business or business related environment (preferably in the chemical or petrochemical industry).
• Good IT capabilities (SAP, MS Office)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
  • Additional proficiency in another European language would be considered an advantage.
