Do you have a heart for serving others and promoting optimum mental and emotional health? Are you actively working toward full LPC licensure and looking for an opportunity to develop your clinical experience under the supervision of an LPC Supervisor?
The Source is seeking a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) to perform individual, marital, couples, group, and crisis intervention counseling to those experiencing difficulties with unplanned pregnancies, trauma, abuse issues, addictions, family problems, parenting, marital problems, stress management, and self-esteem.
The LPC-A will be under the supervision of an LPC Supervisor and actively work toward gaining full licensure by completing required supervised clinical hours as directed by the State of Texas.
What You'll Do
In this role, you will:
- Complete comprehensive assessments within program guidelines and formulate diagnostic impressions by conducting client interviews and identifying strengths, weaknesses, problems, and needs for the development of treatment plans.
- Prepare individualized treatment plans in accordance with established standards and deadlines, consistent with assessment and in conjunction with clients and supervisor.
- Demonstrate ongoing compliance with all Thriving Texas Families (TTF) requirements, including participation in required trainings, adherence to program protocols, compliance standards, documentation requirements, and applicable state and organizational policies.
- Evaluate client response to treatment and modify treatment plans or recommend treatment extensions as circumstances require.
- Develop client discharge plans that integrate aftercare treatment and utilization of appropriate referral resources.
- Conduct individual counseling sessions with clients in accordance with treatment plans or as necessary for crisis intervention.
- Formulate differential diagnoses of mild to moderate mental health conditions and/or substance abuse.
- Identify patients with urgent mental health conditions, including suicidal, homicidal, or psychotic conditions, and make appropriate referrals to available emergency or psychiatric treatment facilities.
- Document treatment plans, progress notes, intervention treatment evaluations, discharge summaries, treatment plan reviews, and other client records in accordance with organizational regulatory accreditations and contractual standards.
- Maintain regular communication with client family members or guardians, probation officers, case workers, court offices, insurance providers, and others as needed for continuity of care.
- Assist with projects pertaining to the counseling program and general program services as needed or requested by the Clinic Director and LPC Supervisor.
- Complete required TTF training.
- Complete the Supervisory Agreement for the TXBHEC, designating The Source's Site LPC Supervisor as one of your supervisors.
- Attend weekly supervisory meetings with The Source's Site LPC Supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with The Source's Site LPC Supervisor regarding counseling questions and needs.
- Maintain knowledge and continued training regarding the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition.
- Attend weekly supervision meetings, with a minimum of four per month, with the LPC Supervisor to meet requirements for gaining full licensure.
- Consult with the LPC Supervisor regarding client cases, treatment plans, ethics, assessment tools, counseling techniques, diagnosis, professional development, and other areas.
- Track direct and indirect clinical hours weekly and report them to the LPC Supervisor for approval.
- Attend job-specific training sessions offered within and outside of the organization to enhance job skills and knowledge.
- Assist in special events, Source 101s, and church presentations as needed.
- Attend and volunteer at The Source's local major fundraising event each year. Attendance and volunteering at The Source's second major fundraising event is strongly preferred.
- Complete all required training and other tasks as assigned.
What You'll Bring
- A Master's Degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or a related field of study.
- Current licensure in the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong professional ethics and boundaries.
- Multi-cultural understanding and competency.
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under challenging situations.
- Experience and competence across various capacities of counseling, including relational, emotional, and traumatic.
- A detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated approach.
- Willingness to work with a team approach to treatment.
- Non-profit or ministry experience is preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
