Role Overview:

We are hiring for one of our clients, seeking a Mainframe Developer (COBOL) to work on a contract basis. The role involves maintaining, debugging, and optimizing legacy mainframe systems critical to business operations. Candidates will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, test, and deploy COBOL programs and JCL scripts on z/OS mainframe environments.

• Debug and resolve defects in existing COBOL applications to improve system stability.

• Collaborate with business analysts to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

• Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.

• Optimize batch processing jobs to reduce runtime and resource consumption.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, and CICS for mainframe application development.

• Experience with VSAM, DB2, and IMS databases on z/OS platforms.

• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills for legacy system maintenance.

• Familiarity with mainframe utilities such as File-AID, Xpediter, or Abend-AID.

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
