Mainframe Storage Engineer – IBM DS8000 & GDPS – Sweden – Hybrid/Remote

Empiric are supporting a leading enterprise organisation on a critical mainframe storage requirement in Sweden.

This is a specialist opportunity for an experienced Mainframe Storage Engineer with deep expertise in IBM DS8000, GDPS and z/OS storage architecture.

You’ll be responsible for administering and optimising enterprise storage infrastructure, protecting platform availability and data integrity, and developing robust backup, recovery and capacity strategies within a business-critical mainframe environment.

Key Skills & Experience

· Extensive hands-on experience administering IBM DS8000 storage systems.

· Proven expertise in GDPS within highly available mainframe environments.

· Strong knowledge of z/OS storage architecture and operations.

· Experience designing and implementing backup and recovery strategies.

· Strong storage-capacity planning and forecasting experience.

· Hands-on performance monitoring, tuning and optimisation expertise.

· Experience investigating and resolving critical storage incidents.

· Strong understanding of data integrity, resilience and disaster-recovery requirements.

· Familiarity with enterprise storage security standards and compliance controls.

· Experience collaborating with mainframe infrastructure and wider cross-functional technology teams.

Nice to Haves

· Experience migrating or transforming mainframe storage infrastructure.

· Scripting experience using REXX or Python.

· Experience working within banking, financial services or another regulated environment.

· Knowledge of additional IBM mainframe storage technologies and tools.

· Experience supporting disaster-recovery exercises or datacentre migrations.

· Knowledge of storage automation, monitoring and alerting.

Contract Details

Location: Sweden

Working Model: Hybrid/Remote

Contract Setup: Freelance / B2B

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Initial 12-month contract + extensions

Rate: Strong Day rate, dependent on experience
