Brief Summary: The role is a remote Mainframe Storage Manager focused on migrating storage tooling from CA to IBM, managing z/OS storage (DASD/SMS/HSM), replication and tape/VTL, and supporting capacity/performance, backup & recovery/DR, upgrades, incidents, change/compliance, and automation.

Specific Requirements

Product Migration Experience from CA tools/SW to IBM SW/Tools.

Working on Sync confirmation, Stop/Suspend replications and Personality Swap activities using DELL Storage PMAX, VTL and DLM and DD.

General Requirements

Storage Administration

• Manage and maintain mainframe storage subsystems (DASD, tape, and virtual storage)
• Perform storage allocation, dataset management, and volume configuration
• Ensure optimal space utilisation and storage lifecycle management

Capacity & Performance Management

• Monitor storage usage and forecast capacity requirements
• Optimise I/O performance and reduce storage bottlenecks
• Analyse trends and recommend improvements

Backup, Recovery & DR Support

• Implement and monitor backup and recovery processes
• Participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) drills and storage failover activities
• Ensure data integrity and meet RPO/RTO commitments

Installation & Upgrades

• Install and maintain storage related software and utilities
• Support storage hardware upgrades and firmware updates
• Coordinate with vendors for maintenance and support

Incident & Problem Management

• Provide L2/L3 support for storage related incidents
• Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes
• Ensure timely closure of incidents as per SLA

Change & Compliance Management

• Raise and implement changes through CAB process
• Maintain documentation for storage configurations and procedures
• Ensure compliance with audit, security, and organisational standards

Automation & Optimisation

• Develop and implement automation scripts for storage operations
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort

Competenties

Must-haves

• Strong experience in z/OS Storage Management (DASD, SMS, HSM)
• Knowledge of DFSMS, DFSMSdss, DFHSM, IDCAMS
• Experience with storage replication, backup/recovery tools
• Familiarity with tape management systems and virtual tape libraries (VTL)
• Basic understanding of z/OS system, JCL, and batch processing
