We are seeking an experienced Major Gifts & Philanthropy Officer to build and manage relationships with major donors, family offices, foundations, and philanthropic partners committed to creating lasting change for children worldwide.

Your Role

As our Major Gifts & Philanthropy Officer, you will:

  • Lead the development of UNICEF Luxembourg’s major donor fundraising program, creating strategies to engage high-value supporters.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors, building long-term, meaningful relationships.
  • Collaborate with the Fundraising and Communications teams to maximize opportunities and create integrated supporter journeys.
  • Position UNICEF Luxembourg as a trusted partner for philanthropy and social impact.
Key Responsibilities

Major Donor Fundraising & Relationship Management:

  • Develop and implement a growth strategy for major donor fundraising.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of major donors, family offices, and foundations.
  • Conduct face-to-face meetings and create opportunities for donors to connect with UNICEF’s impact.
  • Develop compelling funding proposals aligned with donor interests and UNICEF priorities.
  • Ensure excellent stewardship through tailored communications, reporting, and recognition.

Collaboration & Reporting:

  • Work with colleagues to identify donor migration and engagement opportunities.
  • Contribute to fundraising planning, forecasting, and performance monitoring.
  • Represent UNICEF Luxembourg at networking events and donor meetings (including occasional evenings/weekends).
What We’re Looking For
  • Education: University degree in fundraising, business, marketing, communications, or related fields.
  • Experience: Proven track record in major gifts fundraising, wealth management, or philanthropy advisory services.
  • Skills:
  • Strong networking, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English & French required; Luxembourgish/German a plus).
  • Experience with CRM systems and donor databases.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Mindset: Commitment to UNICEF’s mission and a passion for philanthropy.
