About the role: As a Lead Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of a major wastewater infrastructure project, providing technical leadership and engineering oversight across the full project lifecycle. Working client-side, you will collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders to guide technical decision-making, challenge assumptions, and drive innovative, commercially sound solutions. You will ensure procurement, design and construction activities align with project requirements, performance standards and design intent, while providing assurance that project outcomes are fit-for-purpose, cost-effective and deliver long-term value. Your Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership and engineering oversight across design, procurement, construction and commissioning to ensure successful project outcomes. Drive technical decision-making, working closely with internal stakeholders, delivery partners and subject matter experts to deliver innovative and commercially sound solutions. Lead design assurance, value engineering and risk management activities, ensuring compliance with project requirements, standards and Safety in Design processes. Support procurement and construction delivery through the development of technical requirements, tender evaluations, contractor management and oversight of design changes. Ensure a smooth transition to operations by supporting commissioning, operational readiness, asset handover and the completion of quality and project close-out requirements. To be successful in this role, you will bring: A degree qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, or a related discipline). Proven experience delivering complex, high-risk, large-scale infrastructure and construction projects, preferably within the water sector, with oversight of engineering design, construction, commissioning and operational readiness. Strong client-side project delivery experience, with the ability to manage technical, commercial, contractual and stakeholder requirements across the project lifecycle. Well-developed skills in project planning, risk management, cost management and problem-solving, with the ability to drive successful project outcomes. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to facilitate workshops, influence decisions and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
