Managed Services Delivery - Managing Director

CFGI’s Managed Services practice delivers transformative finance and accounting solutions by fully managing operations below the CFO level. We partner with clients to optimize their finance functions, streamline processes, enhance reporting, and enable faster, data-driven decision-making. Our team leverages advanced technologies, including AI and automation, to drive efficiency, reduce complexity, and deliver timely, high-quality insights across core controllership activities such as daily accounting operations, financial close, and reporting.

As a Managing Director in our Managed Services Delivery practice, you will serve as a senior leader responsible for strategic client relationships, delivery excellence, commercial growth, and the continued development of the practice. You will partner with CFOs, CAOs, Controllers, and other executive stakeholders to shape and oversee scalable finance operating models, ensure CFGI delivers sustained value across long-term client relationships, and identify opportunities to expand how we support our clients. You will also play a significant role in developing senior leaders, strengthening our delivery capabilities, and growing CFGI’s Managed Services business.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Own and grow strategic Managed Services client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor to CFOs, CAOs, Controllers, and other executive stakeholders.
  • Provide executive oversight across complex Managed Services engagements spanning assessment, transition, and ongoing finance and accounting delivery.
  • Shape outsourced controllership and finance operating models that align people, processes, technology, governance, controls, and performance management with client objectives.
  • Establish and oversee delivery governance, service expectations, quality standards, performance metrics, engagement economics, and executive reporting across major client relationships.
  • Advise clients on complex accounting, financial reporting, controllership, internal control, and finance-operating challenges.
  • Lead strategic improvement initiatives across procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, record-to-report, financial close, reporting, and other core finance processes.
  • Champion the use of AI, automation, analytics, and finance technologies to improve service quality, scalability, insight, and operating efficiency.
  • Mobilize capabilities across CFGI, including accounting advisory, finance transformation, data and analytics, systems, and other complementary service areas, to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Provide senior oversight of engagement teams, staffing strategies, delivery risks, escalations, client satisfaction, and overall engagement performance.
  • Develop Directors, Senior Managers, and other senior professionals, building a strong leadership pipeline and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive expansion within existing client relationships by identifying new needs, developing solutions, and cross-selling relevant CFGI capabilities.
  • Originate and develop new Managed Services opportunities through executive relationships, market activity, industry networks, and other business-development channels.
  • Lead proposals, solution design, commercial discussions, executive presentations, and other activities associated with securing and expanding client relationships.
  • Help define and advance the Managed Services practice strategy, including delivery methodologies, operating standards, technology enablement, talent strategy, recruiting, and market positioning.
  • Contribute to CFGI-wide growth initiatives, thought leadership, knowledge sharing, and collaboration across practices and markets.

What you must have:

  • 14+ years of experience in public accounting, accounting advisory, outsourced accounting, managed services, and/or corporate accounting or finance, including at least 1 year of external audit experience with a public accounting firm.
  • Experience leading complex accounting, controllership, outsourced finance, or managed-services client relationships and engagement teams.
  • Experience owning senior executive client relationships and contributing to business development, client expansion, or new revenue generation.

What sets you apart:

  • Experience serving as a trusted advisor to CFOs, CAOs, Controllers, or comparable senior finance executives.
  • Experience overseeing multiple significant client engagements or a portfolio of ongoing finance and accounting services.
  • Experience designing, implementing, or scaling outsourced controllership, managed-services, shared-services, or other finance operating models.
  • Experience overseeing complex accounting operations, financial close, financial reporting, and internal-control environments.
  • Experience leading transformation across procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, record-to-report, or other end-to-end finance processes.
  • Experience establishing delivery governance, service-level expectations, KPIs, executive reporting, quality controls, and escalation frameworks for complex client relationships.
  • Experience overseeing engagement economics, including scope, staffing, pricing, budgeting, profitability, and delivery performance.
  • Experience applying technology, AI, automation, analytics, or reporting capabilities to improve finance operations and managed-services delivery.
  • Experience originating new business, expanding strategic accounts, leading proposals, or developing new client opportunities.
  • Experience identifying cross-functional client needs and bringing together accounting, transformation, technology, data, and other capabilities to develop integrated solutions.
  • Experience developing Directors, Senior Managers, and other senior leaders through coaching, performance management, succession planning, and meaningful leadership opportunities.
  • Experience contributing to practice strategy, methodology development, service innovation, recruiting, market development, or other practice-building initiatives.

Nice to have:
